Patrick Cryne stated on Radio Sheffield that Howard and his agent requested a meeting in which Cryne and Davey was told no matter what they offered Howard had decided to leave. As Howards agent spoke Cryne looked at Daveys face and he was devastated.Cryne said "Simon was gutted when he realised Brian wasn't going to stay as they had a fantastic working relationship" Now then its a case of who we believe.Patrick Cryne who has done more for this club than we'll ever know. Or SuperTyke who never misses a trick to pull down anything to do with Barnsley FC.
I certainly know how I'd go with!
I think from his performances, it was clear he didn't want to stay. It was a shame, but if he wasn't 100%, then he had to go.

Wasnt it also stated that Davey knew nothing about Howard wanting to leave until the week we all did When Cryne was on the radio etc talking about it. I'm sure they said that Davey first heard about it then. Poor Barsteward, when Cryne had known that they'd be losing their main midfielder since the season before.
Two things we know are.......... 1) Simon and Brian had a good relationship according to Cryne. 2) Most people would agree Brian was playing like he didn't want to be there. So my question is even if he didn't want to be there why didn't Brian keep putting in the performances because of the "fantastic working relationship" he had with the manager?
He did put performances in, albeit not man of the match displays, but him leaving for the Blades has made people bitter and they are given to slagging his past contributions for our club.
I agree, he was far from our worst performer at the beginnning of the season. He wasn't at his best but he was playing alongside Leon. I think there were a few parties who have to take a share of the blame for him leaving, if there is any to apportion.
fecking blacked was allways banging on about a midfield players deal being resurected from begining of season.nailed on he was going.
Cryne v Howard We were looking like we were going to get relegated when Howard jumped on the McCabe gravey train. He knew, like we all knew he could have been the difference in us stopping up. But he decided to jump. AND importantly he knew if Barnsley did go down it would have cost MILLIONS to the bloke (Cryne) that has already pumped MILLIONS into the club to save it. 'The fook Barnsley I'm off' attitude is a disgrace and shows what type of man this Howard guy really is. Howard has sh.it on the club that actually gave his career a massive boost
Why do so called Barnsley fans protect Howard If I remember right, wern't we at the bottom of the league 7 matches in. Or what ever time Howard left, we were at the bottom And at the time didn't he come out with a statement such as 'the other players look to me to do something' Meaning........I'm fantastic and the rest of the team are shi.te Which at the time was correct.........he was the only player we had got that looked like scoring He knew it, we knew it..............but he foooked off and left us to sink If Pat Cryne had lost millions as a result of him leaving.............what did he foooking care
Thinking NEGATIVE thoughts Its bad news to hope and wish a team loses But because of what has happened this season - I hope Sheffield United lose on Monday I have freinds and relatives that support Sheffeild United and they still cannot understand my bad feelings towards that club It would be nice to wish um well..........I just cant bring myself to do it
