How many major tournaments have Scotland qualified for recently? Don't think two games against Malta is a fair comparison for two teams...
it was 5 - 1 actually but even so, in my opinion if Scotland put 5 past them we should at least have had 7 or 8 against them.
Malta are no San Marino, though. Italy beat them 1-0 twice in the Euro qualifying campaign. They don't often get thrashed. Of course, we should have won by more with the chances we had, but we got the win, on to bigger tests now
not good enough at all in that second half, but im slowly coming round to the idea of giving the job to Southgate. can he be any worse than what we've become used to!! and after our failure to thrash Malta today i see the jocks struggled to scrape even a draw against Lithuania. that adds more importance to our own win today and fingers crossed we will make it a double this week away in Slovenia.
Re: it was 5 - 1 actually They did. They played the last 30 minutes with 10 men (2-1 down at the time) and were reduced to 9 men in injury time (already 5-1 though).
I actually do support all home nations whenever they play (despite their hatred of us!). Much prefer supporting Wales, NI, Ireland and Scotland than England. I actually don't like the English football team any more. And if you had told me I'd feel like this as a teenager in the 90's I would have thought you were deluded. This is an awful awful time to be English and love football. Thank god for Barnsley. They are the only thing that lets me continue to watch the sport I've loved for as long as I can remember. It's morphed into something grotesque.
Sorry but I don't get this. Just got back from wembley and off to Slovenia Monday morning. I am a football fan from Barnsley in England I love both without question. I will admit England àre poor at the minute, been so for a long time but for me it is unconditional I can't give up on England no more than the reds when times are bad. We will beat Scotland and qualify and be crap In Russia but so what every 2 years we start again hoping for the best as reds and DUFC, for our beloved Arab, it is the same hopes that we have every year.we believe this is our time that is a football fans life love it. We are a long time gone easier to bea sceptic than a believer. RED LIGHT SPELLS DANGER
Great post and huge respect mate. Enjoy your trip away (not too much) and let football be the winner. Like yourself I'm just a football supporter but I drew the line with Scotland a long time ago. Utter dross as with a lot of International football. Yestereday I saw my first Welsh side play. I took myself to Forfar where they were playing The New Saints in our Irn Bru Cup. 3-1 Saints and well deserved. For some reason 2 Welsh and 2N. Irish clubs were introduced. Alloa beat Bala Town 4-2 in Wales, Livingston beat Crusaders in Ireland and today QotS are at home to Linfield. Hoping the draw tomorrow pits my team away at either TNS or Linfield giving me a nice wee trip. I'm sure the ties are scheduled for the International w/e when England v Scotland takes place in London. I've never been any less interested in any game.
TBH Ian with hindsight I guess it was no real surprise for me too. I hope your lot take a leaf out of the Welsh lads book....look what it did for them this summer. the 'It' being wearing the shirt with pride and belief, summat the England team has not done for many a year in my book.
Re: TBH Ian with hindsight My lots problem is the lack of basic skills. And being managed by an objectionable turd does not help. Like I said dragon I gave up on them years ago.
