I lost the buzz of making my pilgrimage to Oakwell many seasons ago and don't think i will ever get it back. Is it down to my age (40)? or maybe the fact i resign myself to not being entertained like i used to be in the past? Any of you feel the same?
Comes and goes At times in the first half of this season ( and first half of quite a few seasons recently) the buzz has come back - you look forwards to the game and when we play well leave feeling top of the world -last time that happened to me was Leicester away then January comes and we slump and you trudge to the games more out of duty than enthusiasm - was planning to come to the game against Cardiff but not well enough at the moment for a 6 hour drive and sitting in the cold for 2 hours watching us not get a shot all game. Might have dragged myself up anyway if we had been on song and still going for a playoff place Not expecting to recover in time for Bristol but will probably manage the Brighton game where hopefully wont be needing to keep an eye on the Coventry game But next August I will be back and that hopefull anticipation will be there again - unless we get QPR away first game again or worse still Swindon or Torquay - like both grounds but dont want to be at either next year
It's been a chore for months to go to Oakwell. I can't remember the last time I turned up expecting three points. When we go behind I know we aren't going to win because the players have no fight. If we'd have brought back Alex Neil he'd have done no worse than Korey Smith.
We joke that our day out as a group on the beers has that awkward 90 mins in between that often ruins the day. The football is not up there with what it was but still look forward to day on the ale with good bunch of blokes.
thats what you call supporting your team. rain or shine promotion or relegation, playing crap or brilliant and still being there for your team and the craic with your pals.
i'm quite happy we don't try and keep up with jones's but we still live on same street as them we've no fancy stuff on display like them but at least we're not watching for the bailiffs, not coming home from work to find she's run off with administrator. with all that safe we can work on minor things. and ifsometimes things are not so good in the ritual dept things can be worked on to make things better in future, no reason to walk away and abandon them (if you genuinely love them )
Me and my mates say exactly the same - the football ruins an otherwise good day out. considered more than once staying in the pub. We've agreed this year that if it wasn't for the pub session, if we were in the habit of turning up at 2.30 and just going to the game, we have knocked it on the head some time this season, ST or no ST.
Slowly lost the buzz from Bassett season onwards. Enjoyed the day out at Cardiff, beating Liverpool and Chelsea. Apart from that, the last 10 years have been a bit w*nk. And expensive. More and more expensive. Compounded by the fact that the Club appears to be run in quite an amatuer manner. However, I got the buzz back this season. For a bit.
This season really gave me back my buzz for football but the usual new year collapse has crushed it somewhat however I am still looking forwards to next season.
