Reported team, in the 4-2-3-1 formation: Pickford; Walker, Stones, Mings, Trippier; Phillips, Rice; Foden, Mount, Sterling; Kane.

Pick the bones out of that.

Wish we had Maguire, not keen on Mings.

I'm more bothered about the left back, given we've two excellent natural left sided players to choose from.

Sterling is bang out of form.. and not actually that good (obviously my opinion)
Playing a right back at left back when you have two left backs of the quality of Shaw and Chilwell is mental.
    Typical Southgate. Poor.

Not a bad team that, good balance in and out of possession. The bench gives us so many formation options with 5 subs.

    Chilwell nope
    Shaw nope

Plays one of his 17 right backs at left back.

    Logic please?

Trippiers right foot delivery from the left opens up different angles for ball over the top. Sterling will need to track back and provide cover. He's been pretty good at that though with City.

I don't think Trippier is in the Phil Neville category of right footed left backs..........Romania Euro 2000 (shudders).

Phillips and Rice in midfield, negativity, negativity again, Southgate is trying to get himself sacked already

Is Harry Kane on corner kick duty?

    Hmmm.....
2nd man on team sheet for me Grealish missing. I work with a life long city fan and he reckons sterling is bang out of form and has been over 2 months.
Not sure how he gets in over Grealish....poor decision. Other teams darent tackle him.

Not brave enough to drop Walker and play Trippier at right back so he can have a proper left back.
Playing two defensive midfielders invites pressure and don’t get me started on not playing Grealish.
I suppose being a Barnsley fan means I’m not used to negative football!!
Southgate just strikes me as a scared man.

Looking that their back 4, we need to get Foden and Mount on the ball out on the right. Vida not got the legs and young left back though a prospect (just signed for Leipzip) usually plays in a back three and doesnt really bomb forward.

Southgate is going to have the last laugh when we finish third and play Austria instead of winning the group and playing France, Portugal or Germany.

I hate him we have a guy from the Pizza Hut adverts in charge of a crop of talent that is the envy of most of Europe!! No sancho on the bench!! Sack him before kick off save us the embarrassment

Sancho and Rashford will start against Scotland. If we're to progress in this tournament you have to look at the opposition. Sancho is a great talent, but from what I've seen of him he doesn't do the off the ball defensive stuff well enough yet.
Remember we're playing a top team today, they're always well organised and try to set the tempo.

I’m going to say it now and hope i’m horribly wrong but Southgate is a poor manager.

He fits in very well with the FA but his selection decisions and tactics do not get the most out of, what is, a very talented bunch of players.

He's gone with the players he trusts from the previous tournament. Personally, I would like to see Grealish but I'm sure he'll appear at sometime. I'm sure the team will develop as England progress through the competition.
