I think the problem is Very few, if any, wanted the one that we got. When Ritchie was booted out, it was reportedly said by either GS or PC, I forget who, it might even have been both, that Ritchie would be replaced by an EXPERIENCED manager. In his programme notes for the Wednesday game, GS said that he didn't expect the appointment, when made, to be universally popular. Well, he wasn't kidding there. I doubt he could have made a more universally UNPOPULAR appointment if he'd put Maggie Thatcher in charge with Ian McGregor as assistant.
