    A P McCoy has to be handed a knighthood in the new year, one of the greatest ever sportsmen. Yet we hand them out to people who go round in a circle on a bike!!

    broke bones all over his body including his vertebrae, misses meals to make the weight and travels all over the uk sometimes for just one ride at a meeting true sportsman in every sense of the word:)

    As opposed to going round in circles on a horse, at least the cyclists have to work to make their ride move. Each to their own but I can't stand horse racing

    I agree.

    He's achieved more in his sport than people like Henry Cooper, Bobby Robson, Seb Coe , Nick Faldo, Stirling Moss, Len Huttton did in theirs. Difficult to compare sports but 4,000 winners compared to the previous record of 1,600 must be on a par with Sir Alex's achievements.

    Has he ridden any of the queens horses in the 4000?

    I thought they didnt give out proper gongs until they retired normally -Bradley Wiggins being one I know but it sounds a bit odd in the commentary
