Population of Swansea City 221,000 Population of Barnsley Town 72,000. OK there are 218,000 in metropolitan borough but with Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster bordering this borough, all with football teams in same or higher divisions I would argue its not a fair comparison although you could argue people living east of Swansea start to become Cardiffians? so I don't really know what I am implying) Also, Distance from Cardiff Swansea - 41 miles, £5 travel costs Barnsley - 208 miles, £50 travel costs So I wouldn't really be surprised if they outsell us.
Fair point but if your looking at town centre then Swansea's population is much smaller than that however it has many villages surrounding the city which would account for the 200,000+ figure. As for £5 travel costs blimey mate I've heard its grim oop norf but even the 45 miles to the big smoke that is cardiff will cost you £10 on the train. Not one to be pedantic like. Our club is on a massive crest of a wave this last 12 months and many older fans seem to be coming back into the fold which is great news and I'd be confident that if this game were at that mythical stadium you call Wembley we'd still manage 25,000 - 30,000 for this game which would be a trip of about 200 miles but hey who really knows, I'm sure we'll all make it a cracking day and will put leeds and Watford to shame with the atmosphere we will create on saturday.
