RE: I didn't say they SHOULD have, Not at all appropriate. Best was nothing to do with Barnsley FC. I can understand the players of Manchester United and Fulham wearing black armbands - but not those of Barnsley.
RE: I didn't say they SHOULD have, Soory, I dont see the corelation be tweenb George Best and/or Barnsley Football Club and Swindon Town FC. George best an excellent foreign footballer who played in the English League. Did we have a mins silence when Bobby Moore Died?
Foreign? Anyway that aside, he was probably the most talented, influencial player that played in this country. Giving alot of footballing joy to spectators as well as inspiration to pro footballers. So by that token he should have been remembered (in the way football does) by an arm band and a minutes silence, IMHO.
RE: oh dear! No it doesn't! Northern Ireland IS a seperate country from England regardless of what religion you are. It is, however, part of the United Kingdom. For purposes of football, when there were limits on "foreign" players, it was not considered a foreign country yet has its own national side.
Don't Get It 1. he didnt play for barnsley 2. he didnt play for england 3. he beat up women im sorry but a minute silence was only needed at a couple of grounds. glad we wasnt at home because i would have felt forced into staying quiet when i aint bothered. a minute apalause is better because you have a choice if you wanna join in without getting funny looks. dont see why they had one at all grounds. specially at millwall leeds. that was a stupid idea because we all knew what would happen.
RE: Don't Get It And now the Queen is sending representitive to his funeral what the **** is going on!!!. They will be making him a Saint next. I hope kipper Jackson gets all this fuss
