Could our hero have got more on his touch for their goal?
Think it was just a last ditch effort, but could he have got a full boot and put out for a corner.
I keep thinking he is not getting out of 2nd of 3rd gear due to Southgates system and is wasted.
Like everyone else, I want us to use our quality players in the right areas.

To be fair gone through one defenders legs. He tried his best it fell fortunately for their player. Another day he does the same thing and it doesn’t. Just one of those things.

The problem was the way we allowed the Swiss player to walk into space to cross the ball

If Embolo hadn't touched it in, could he have claimed a pen maybe ?, as he was being pulled back!.

Thought stones should have done better and walker let his man get goal side. Poor from both.

Stones has been like all the others - at least a second too slow to let go of the ball when they receive it.

They all look around as though they're surprised to have the ball at their feet, then more than half the time pass it backwards.

They all can do so much better. Why they don't is a puzzle I cannot solve.

Poor. It's only 'cos he's frum tarn he's not being crucified on here. Any other centreback would be getting proper hammered.

Would've been a brilliant intervention if he'd stopped it. He'll probably think he should have done better but I think the issue was walker letting his man get goalside.

As is always the way, Southgate gets just enough out of the team to stay in it. Which, while unspectacular, is way better than every other England manager in my lifetime.

    Yeah Daz, my thoughts exactly!!.
Finally somebody has said that about him on here, he's made a real mess out of that goal we conceded.

I do like him though, like all Tarn fans do. The Barnsley Beckenbauer. Won more trophies than any ex Barnsley player. Just that when someone drops a bơllock they should be called on it, not spared because 'they're one of us'

Agreed. If it had been Maguire all the divs would be going mental. Should have dealt with it.

It doesn't matter though, this modern England team continue to do what they do and find a way to get to the last 4 in major tournaments. Three out of the last 4 - an incredible record.

    Hardly a Maguire type mistake.

Yeah I understand that and I agree with you Daz, but the majority on here won't like it though will they!.
If he/Stones (or any other player actually) was from my own hometown, then I'm sure I'd think differently.

I think a lot of it is down to the stick hes got over the years mate. Some of the stuff he does as a centre half is incredible and had he been called Stoneinho would have been recognised much earlier. Over the past 2 years hes certainly got the credit he deserves but I reckon a lot of Barnsley fans feel a bit bitter he hasn't been noticed a lot sooner haha. Hes the perfect Pep defensive player and its finally paying off. Shame about his fitness issues however

Ok yeah Frog, maybe etc, lol!.
But I just think he's over rated (for obvious reasons on here of course).

Oooft completely disagree there mate. Was a vital cog for City the season before last. It was criminal how he didnt end up in ballon for top 30 list. He doesn't run into midfield or make incredible passes for England like he does for city though and I think its a massive shame. Last season he dropped off a bit but like I say he has loads of injuries. He ran that champions league campaign when they won it, alongside haaland

Are you more into the old school defenders bud ?

‘Our hero’? Do I sense a bit of resentment towards the lad?
