Who was it that took him in that Chelsea game - someone said it was roberts - I thought it was someone else
I've got it on DVD that match, I'll double check. Seem to remember both been near Gywn, think Woods tho?!?
It happened on the brewery stand side where i was stood and always thought it was Mickey droy that did him.
We do this every three months. Half of us think it was Roberts, including me, although I was only about 8, and he other half think it was Darren Wood. This article agrees with me, because I'm right: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/fa_cup/7276231.stm I like he way someone says Mickey Droy, he wasn't even playing!
Peter Nicholas his Welsh team-mate was also involved. I'm sure it was Nicholas who stamped/stood on him as he laid on the floor in agony. I thought it was Roberts that fouled him though.
Re: Peter Nicholas his Welsh team-mate was also involved. Agree with TM, I thought it was Roberts, he was also running around acting the big time Charlie for all the game if I remember rightly, I've disliked Chelsea ever since
Re: Peter Nicholas his Welsh team-mate was also involved. he was magic, the tank, if i remember there were a few candidates for the tackle and gwyn said he knew who but kept schtum i still reckon it was roberts
Re: Peter Nicholas his Welsh team-mate was also involved. There are only three things certain in life. Death, taxes and this thread appearing every few months. It was Darren Fecking Wood!!!!!!
Don't believe everything you read on the BBC. That article was written by someone who did a minimal amount of research, in the same way that many articles in footy magazines are written by fans from their own memories. Because Roberts was the self-confessed hard case of the side everyone presumed it was him, as did I until I spoke with the surgeon who operated on Thomas a short while later. When I said it was Roberts the surgeon corrected me and told me it was Darren Wood, as Thomas himself had told the surgeon. This argument usually goes on for a bit with the "it was Roberts, I saw him do it, I did, I did..." argument finally being silenced when a couple of people who have spoken to Darren Wood on his market stall explain that he has told them personally that he was the culprit. I think this time I am going to ask Gally to make it a sticky to stop it coming up again!
