Why did Danny change the formation from 4-4-2 to 4-3-3? We were playing well in 442 and then suddenly we lose Williams and he goes to a formation that not one of our players can actually play...Does he not have faith in Digby, Abbott? I'd rather see one of those two getting them experience and developing that playing a formation which is crap.

I'd at least give Danny till the end of the month and if we're drawing most games maybe see if he can bring in someone in Jan and change it then. If its same and 4-3-3 is happening and playing *****, then it's bye bye Mr. Wilson.

We're playing the same system we were when Williams/Winnall were fit. The diamond. We're just shoehorning Trotta/Hemmings into it by playing one of em deeper which makes them look *****.

We get Winnall/Williams back in January, we ought to improve. Lot of games/points to lose though before then..

Like i said, i'd rather have Digby or Abbott play in midfield that a wannabe midfielder. We cant carry on this 3 man midfield or we'll be struggling. Wilson needs to see that. When i see the team and 3 midfielders it makes me want to give up. I know we'll play *****.

I don't think we're playing the same system at all mate. That might be the intention, but it definitely isn't the reality.

Williams dropped a lot deeper than any of our three strikers have done in the last four games. He acted as an extra man in midfield, but our strikers don't do that.

It's a 4-3-3 for me, but with Williams it was a narrow 4-4-2.

Its been the same for the past 3 games. He brings 2 midfielders on and we controlled the remaining time of the game. Id play Dale next game, not sure on another winger. Williams if fit.

I think it's the same shape we've played for much of the season. It's just looked better at times dependent on personnel. Who was playing at the tip of the diamond today? Hemmings or Trotta? It was hard to tell.

The one thing the formation screams out though is 'no width'.

We looked better once we got two wingers on, even though Keith kept coming inside.

Jennings could still be our key player if he wants it. That trick he did today gave me renewed belief in him. Please, please stay fit and focussed, lad.

We'll have to agree to disagree on the formation thing mate. It just isn't the same shape as when Williams was in the team, as neither Hemmings or Trotta drop deep enough, and it must be instructions from Wilson that means they don't? This current setup frustrates the hell out of me. Football is a simple game, but Wilson is making it seem like the most complicated thing ever - with his formations, tactics, and insistence on playing players out of position.

Agree on Jennings though. Fantastic when he came on, but end product is still frustrating and fitness a worry. Was knackered today after five minutes.

P.S. I don't want Wilson sacked. But he's got to sort this mess out as we could easily be bottom three after Christmas.

Jennings needs a run of games. But he needs to perform in them. Up to him innit? Although if I heard tomorrow that he was injured again I wouldn't be at all shocked.

Just seeing a winger, someone run at the opposition, it blew my tiny mind.

I'm not disagreeing with you on the system though. You're probably reight. It's more 4-3-3 at the minute. But what I meant was that it's hardly a massive departure. It isn't is it? It's one slight alteration, a lad playing 10 yard further forward/back. So that's why I don't buy the whole "he's changed the system" ********. It's not that that's bothering me. It's the selection of certain players within it.

But in truth, I'd prefer to see us play either 4-4-2, or the 4-5-1 we laiked under Keith early doors.

    But I'm no manager.

I just loved having two wide players on the pitch, not that Treacy was that impressive, but the formation felt so much better during that last ten minutes.

I think the system has changed massively. Williams was an extra body in midfield by dropping deeper, which gave us a better option when playing it out from the back better protection, and a better outlet when we did bypass midfield for the strikers. It's only ten yards, but that ten yards forced the opposition to think and work more. As it stands recently, we're just being steamrolled in midfield and the three front players are totally ineffective.

I think you've convinced me actually. I'm thinking back to the Sheff Utd match. Williams was key to that performance. He takes the pressure of those behind and ahead of him just through his endeavour alone. Then the fact he's technically savvy.

Be hopes we sign him permanently.

Bailey takes the ball, plays a ten yard pass in to Williams, completely bypasses the opposition midfield and we're at their defence.
