Gerry Taggart says the 'Blue Army' have got a massive part to play when the Foxes take on Barnsley at the Walkers Stadium on Saturday. Taggart was named assistant to caretaker manager Frank Burrows following the departure of Gary Megson to Bolton Wanderers.

The former Northern Ireland international became a massive favourite with the City supporters during his five-and-a-half year stint as a player with the club. And now in his coaching capacity, Taggart is asking for the fans to give their all as the Foxes go in search of a welcome three points against the Tykes this weekend.

He said: "In my mind this is the biggest game in the history of the club. That may sound like a very bold statement - but at the moment it is the only game that matters to us.

"Obviously, what has gone on in the last 48-hours has in no way been a help. But that's in the past now. There is no point in crying about it - we have got to pick ourselves up and get on with it.

"The lads on the pitch feed off the crowd - there is no doubt about that. Our supporters can give us a big advantage at the Walkers on Saturday and I know that they will be bang up for it.

"I don't play anymore, but if I did then this sort of a game would be ideal for me. I'd love to roll my sleeves up and get involved out there. I've now got to get the players into my sort of mindset if I can.

"We have got to unite as a club and stay strong. We need to pull together and give our all."

Tickets for the game remain on general sale right up until kick off.

And don't forget - under 16s can gain entry to the game for just £5 as part of the club's special half-term offer.

Are We Not Worthy Of A Mention?

I'd have thought Gerry or the editor of the article would have brought up his legendary status with us.

RE: Are We Not Worthy Of A Mention?

The editor of the article is connected to Leicester - not Barnsley - and so I'm sure will have only asked questions from a Leicester point of view. If Gerry did mention us without prompting then the Editor will have 'selectively' not included such comments in his article.

The editor is obviously on a mission to help fire up - via his article - the Leics fans for tomorrows game.
