    This is the best view of Mars the UK will get for 13 years and it's a lovely clear night. It's the bright peach coloured one to the right of the moon.

    What's that big bright star thing to the right of Mars?

    Mars, if that's what I'm looking at, is huge. Looks bigger than the moon.

    We were having one of those rare family meals out, celebrating summart. Anyway, when we got outside the moon was behind lots of cloud, that's the south for you. I can now see the moon but still too murky to detect a peachy Mars. Grrr, as we say round here. Cheers anyway fella.

    It's a pity it's so close to the full moon.

    We've been following the progress of Mars for a couple of weeks now. When the moon was only a sliver Mars really was bright.
