Given that we finished 5th in league 1 last season, I said at the start of the season that I would be happy if we finished 21st in the Championship. Staying up has got to be our objective. Even then I think that we need at least a couple fo years to consolidate in this league.

Looking at the clubs with us, there are a lot of what my mate would call sleeping giants, all of whom have potentially much more in the way of financial resources available to them. Thus we are in a league where we need to punch above our weight to make any impression.

We must stop thinking in terms of promotion for the next few years. Yes we have spent more seasons in this league than any other club. However, if you look at the stats we have been in more relegation digfights that promotion pushes.

We have a good manager who has developed a good team spirit. We must keep faith with him. Trust his judgement. It is no good wasting money on "name" players who are are not going to fight for the red shirt. It we sign a player he needs to be better than what we have already. This is difficult given the competition in this league. We know that from the close season.

We have a board which is understandably cautious given our recent history. Does anyone want to be visiting the grounds of our rivals with collection buckets again? However, I am sure that come January we will be in the market to fresh blood and hopefully before then if the right loan signing comes along.

Of course I would like us to be in the top ten, we all would, it is much more preferable that being where we are. With a bit more luck and a bit more composure from the players we would have 2 or 3 more points and almost half way. Luck has a habit of evening out over the season.

In summary we have a club in the championship, a good manager, a team which plays good attacking football. Tis should be enough to keep us up. We can kick on next season.

1 point a game will see us back in league one

I have not heard anyone call for promotion nor play offs.

We just want to stop in this league.

It is apparant now, as it was at the start of the season, that some new blood is required..either that or a change in strategy.
