Long weekend and that, saying city central. What should we do other than get pissed up? Decent places to eat? Stuff to do? Help a brother out. Peace.
You've avoided the festival, so well done on that. I know you're married now and it dunt matter but once took a lass up here http://www.tower-restaurant.com/ Then she let me take her up anywhere
Walk. Through Princes Street Gardens, down the Royal Mile, up Arthurs seat. Go the castle. This is alright: http://www.realmarykingsclose.com/ Some really cracking boozers. Try 'em all. I liked this place to eat: http://www.thedogsonline.co.uk/
All depends on your interests. History all around you. Plenty of museums and art galleries. Lots of shops. Rose Street runs parallel with Princes Street where there are loads of bars offering meals. Hearts or Hibs will be at home if you fancied a game. Best google your interests and see what comes up. Hope you have a good time.
Try these: http://www.thethreesistersbar.co.uk/ http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUs...ick_Murphys_Edinburgh-Edinburgh_Scotland.html http://www.blackbulledinburgh.co.uk/ or jump in a cab and ask to be dropped at the Grass Market - you cant really go wrong from there HTH
As others have said, the Royal Mile, Grassmarket, multitude of bars and restaurants in the centre. Alternatively, take a bus/taxi to Leith (£1.50 on bus, no idea with taxi) and there's another collection of nice bars and restaurants. Take her to see the royal yacht Britannia in Leith harbour (£14 each, bit pricy but far cheaper than a league 1 footy match). Must have haggis and/or seafood up there.
Forgot all about the Royal Yacht. I did that about 15 years ago. Good experience and worth a visit. Also when ordering chips instead of salt and vinegar you are offered salt and sauce. ??? Must be an Edinburgh thing.
Take the green city tour bus. Excellent value. We went on it in the summer. Takes you round all the key sites and it is hop on hop off all day. Great whisky shop near the castle
World's End pub on the Royal Mile. Enjoyed this restaurant http://m.wedgwoodtherestaurant.co.uk/ There's a Brewdog pub at the very top of the Grassmarket. Avoid the Three Sisters though if you're with the missus (stag and hen do city). Good places to eat and drink in Leith. As others have said walk a lot. Stunning city. National Gallery off of Princes Street is cracking, definitely worth an hour
Took the missus in December last year. Gorgeous city. Like others have said there is lots to do. Massive wetherspoons on street behind Princes Street & loads more bars there too. We did the castle which isn't normally my kind of thing but really enjoyed that.which hotel you stopping in?
have a serious look at the undercity St Mary's Close especially, its very eerie and a good experience... owt along the Mile , and the Castle is awesome. Also the park too.
I loved Edinburgh, the Royal Mile is obviously a good place to start, the castle is fanstastic. I did a ghost walk into the vaults under the city, this was excellent. If you like Indian try the Kama Sutra its about 10 minute walk from Princes Street but well worth it, i think its the top rated Indian in Edinburgh. We went the Edinburgh dungeons to and it was a good laugh, not too pricey. I did the Tynecastle, Easter Road and Murrayfield tour in my car, to be fair the wife did some good navigating. Can not wait to go back ull love it
there is also the Edinburghs equivalent of Harrods too name of the store escapes me, Arabian-Ian may help here... but the store is amazing. A really old building and the inner architecture is Fabulous
