I watched Michael Bridges make his debut for sydney yesterday. And damn good he was anawl. He is on loan from Hull.
He was sharp and he tried like hell. In fact, it is was the best game to watch for last couple of years. He played well with Juninho and Steve Corica. We won 3-2 and he was involved in most of the strikes even though he didn't get one. He came off near the end and he was given a good ovation.... I could see that he was dead pleased with the day.
In the paper, today, he said that it was English Championship level. He's got that wrong, but only because he is on a high.
I watched the Hull match on the box this week. Good league, this. I know we didn't match Hull but evenso I can see that we now have the best team that we have had since, since, well, mebbee the Playoff Year.

a poor league can make the worst of players look good though he is a league 1 player at best. he's never really done anything other than for carlisle in league 1 a few years ago. although thinking about that it might even have been in league 2 when they got promoted.
either way he's not championship quality.

Just Read The Match Report http://www.sydneyfc.com/default.aspx?s=sydfc_news_item&id=19922 I see John ALOISI plays for the opposition. Is he any good these days? Class striker in his day.
I'm enjoying it..............
There are eight teams in the league and you play each team three times. The top four four playoff at the end of the seasonto decide thechampions. I like this format, now, though it doesn't feel right if your team wins the league and then gets knocked out in the semis.
I reckon that the standard is mid-div1 with a few quality players sprinkled around. David Carney has been our best forward for a couple of years and he has now gone to the Blades. I keep up with his progress just so that I can rate the different standards.
Dwight Yorke did a season and now Juninho. John Aloisi has just come back as have Craig Moore, Tony Popovic, Kevin Muscat, Steve Corica. These are the better players. There are about a dozen Brazillians.
enjoying though it is way different than oakwell. How 'bout you.. Have you pinned your colours to the mast of Dinamo Banishevskiy

RE: I'm enjoying it.............. Haha, Zenit are my team here. Two games away from winning their first league title for 27 years and only their 3rd major honur in their history, which is actually a pretty abysmal record considering they are the only team in Europe's 5th city!
Hey, Dan
Maybe we will catch up at some stage. i fancy a drive around the Shaky Isles again.
I'm in Sydney. North Shore, Mosman. Bear that in mind if you get over here. I'm around this board a bit. Daler, here, Dan. How 'bout you?

Only team in europe's 5th city You don't count Real and Athletico then? http://www.citymayors.com/features/euro_cities1.html Actually Europe's 3rd which is even worse
RE: Only team in europe's 5th city Jesus, didn't realise that we were third. Even stranger is that there's SEVEN other Russian cities all of which I would consider as being shitty little backwaters except Kazan which is a beautiful backwater (been to five of them), all of which are bigger than Birmingham!
RE: a poor league can make the worst of players look good though Steve Marlet, the ex-Fulham striker, has been on trial at Ipswich. Surely he can't be any worse than Odejayi.
Sweet...... Im in Sydney at least once a quarter..... my gaffer is over there. I spend time in Neutral Bay and Manly. Near you?
RE: Sweet...... Yes, that's local to me. You'd go up the Oaks then. My son has started working there part time now he's at uni. He'd have me barred from 'his' pub if he saw me there..... nah... Let's have a steak and ale up there this summer.
