Alan Brazil, Martin Keown, Ally McCoist, Jim White, Hawksbee and Jacobs (Chelsea fan) all praising us massively. Keown was there and bigged us up royally.

Andy Jacobs just said it was the best pressing performance and workrate from a team he's seen in many a year. Amazed every time they had ball then 3 of our players buzzing about and kept it going all match.

All very complimentary. Nice to hear even though we lost.

Exactly how I saw it. We didn’t let them play at all. Suppose it’s another advantage of young players!

I've got the same feeling I had after we lost 3-5 to Everton in 2015. I came out of that match thinking we'd get promoted. Even during the losing run I watched our play and couldn't believe we were bottom of the league after the Sheffield United draw. I'm not saying we'll make the play-offs or get promoted but last night gave me the same feeling.

I think my feeling is one of overall frustration that we didn't score and lost to their only shot on target. Pleased with how destructive the press was and how we can nullify teams with that front three and those full backs. I like the mobility of that back 3 as well. Brave call replacing Sollbauer but I think the team is better for it. But concerned with our attacking play and how rushed and speculative it is. I think we're better than that.

I think that miss will give Brittain nightmares. It's all that's going round my mind. Difficult to shake.

I hope he doesn't think too much about it. I think his body position was actually altered by the defender as he went past him and as a result, he couldn't open his foot to slot that side. Ironic that if that had been a non league player, he would have just smashed it and scored as it was so close and the keeper couldn't react fast enough.

I've been very impressed with him and he definitely doesn't need to castigate himself.

The other chance from Chaplin looked like it was going wide even without the deflection off Adeboyejo's gnads.

Can't fault the teamwork, pressing and general off the ball play. If we could sort out what we do WITH the ball in the final third we would be in with a genuine chance of a top ten finish. Unfortunately I can't see that with the players we have unless Dike can continue his MLS form once he's found his feet. How many times does it bounce off a forward with a heavy touch or a simple pass get intercepted? So frustrating.

It was a cracking display by Barnsley and clearly Chelsea and their Manager were flustered at times. The difference in player "value" circa £5m v £500m just shows that little old Barnsley can hold their own (almost!) against a real giant team such as Chelsea.

It was a fantastic treat to watch our commitment and the pressing style by everyone. I thoroughly enjoyed the match and the unbiased commentary by the TV team.

We have nothing to worry about--we thoroughly deserve our place in the Championship.

Really! we were utter gash for weeks under LJ. We couldn't muster shots on target at home against some teams

Not posted since the game, but have to agree, it was the best pressing performance of any team Ive ever seen. Utterly relentless and brilliantly executed.

Whilst I wouldnt expect to have lots of opportunities against Chelsea, I was disappointed again at our forward play. Sometimes it's just hurried where it need not be. A touch and a look before playing a pass would go a long way rather than playing the first ball that comes to mind. You can't expect to be able to play that way against good teams and retain the ball. I kind of get the impression we're going for "quantity over quality" in terms of getting the ball forward, and hoping that it will pay off. Clearly it has been but we need a bit more nuance going forward.

Here's the possession heatmap from last night. Who'd have thought a Premier League side would see so much of the ball in their own half only........

Our postman said the same this morning.
Any other kick or miskick would have gone in.

Guy i work with is a city fan (hes from manchester) called me to tell me he thought we were a credit to the championship.
I agree with all the plaudits and i know red rain is less than complimentary about our set up. However results wise it is effective and we do manage to frustrate many teams with our pressing well into 90 mins plus.
It does seem our coach has changed style for substance but i just dont feel we have enough quality to play an effective passing game against better players week on week. Woody is crying out for quality alongside him but we do have honest 100% workers and made chelsea ask a few questions of themselves last night....heres hoping we apply ourselves the same against brentford (im sure we will).

It was Brittain wasn't it? Chaplain received the corner from Mowatt and played it to Brittain.

Yes, it was Brittain's shot that clipped Victor's boot and went wide
