Has anyone been contacted by these yet , ive asked about this at my GP & get told to wait !! https://canceralliancesyb.co.uk/what-we-do/early-diagnosis/lung-health-checks
I had a pre-assessment by telephone to see if I was in a high risk category and therefore at risk of developing lung cancer. So despite being a smoker for 22 years, my nan and my dad dying of lung cancer, both aged 71 and my sister dying of lung cancer at 43. I was told I was low risk and therefore did not qualify for a lung check. Waste of time really
Yes, After an initial telephone interview, they decided to refer me to the mobile scanning unit which was at Stairfoot Tesco’s. This was mainly because My Niece had recently died of lung cancer. It was a few minutes out of my time as I live at Stairfoot, and even better than that, the scan results were fine
You were lucky, because as per my post, despite having a grandparent, parent and sibling dying from lung cancer, I was assessed as low risk and refusd a scan. Yet you were eligible for one because your niece died from it. Something not right somewhere
They contacted me, booked an appointment at Sainsbury's car park in Dewsbury, and off i went. Waited no more than 5 mins. Six weeks later received another appointment as they'd found a "nodule". Have to have yearly checks now... back there next Tuesday to see how my nodule is.
Maybe, I forgot to add, I’m an ex smoker, although I packed it in more than 40 years ago, but I suppose it added to a ‘totting up’ process. Needless to say, I would sooner my niece was alive and I wasn’t eligible.
