You as a dj should be hip and upto date not just playing Jim Reeves at your middle age wedding receptions. Thereev is clearly super cool and 'down with the kidz'

It's a cracking tune....in fact Taylor Swift music is all very good.

I do play pop stuff from time to time if called for & I have a reasonably open mind about it I think. Bands like Rudimental & Disclosure for example have made some decent records ... not stuff I'd listen to at home but I'm 49 years old & if you listen to music all the time your tastes get a bit more eclectic.

I just don't think this is very good, but each to their own.

I love pop myself as long as it's good. Girls Aloud for example are a cracking pop band, Lana Del Rey's stuff is interesting but Taylor Swift FFS

She's a good musician whether you like her music or not. Had it rammed down my throat with my 8 year old girl and some of it is alright to be honest.

Not quite feeling that one myself, but not the worst I've heard, pop music is generally quite shocking these days.

Heard a song the other day and I couldn't believe it had made it to the radio and people were presumably becoming quite wealthy from it, main lyrics went something like "as long as we're together, it's all good" - is this the sh*t you can get away with to be a song writer now?

Nothing wrong with Taylor Swift. I'll openly admit to being a big fan!

Was more of a Destinys Child man myself... "the Child" as I used to refer to them as.

Loads of talented female pop artists around Ellie Goulding, La Roux, Lily Allen, Florence Welch, Bat For Lashes, Eliza Doolittle, etc .... as I say not my personal taste, but with talent. Loads of others a bit more on the alternative / songwriter side too, like Lana Del Rey, Sharon Van Etten, Laura Marling, etc

To add to my last post... if anyone is interested.

    Pop music is "popular music".

95% is facile corporate crap, but so is 95% of most genres, including classical, jazz, indie/rock, reggae, etc

Rage Against The Machine "Killing In The Name Of" is pop. (Christmas no1 I think). My last 2 tracks at last night's wedding were just that & the Beastie Boys "Fight For Your Right To Party", another pop song.

Saw Bat For Lashes a few weeks ago pretty hypnotic live. Laura Marling did a cathedral tour last year again pretty good. All music is pop music to be extent or another I guess.

Her songs are pretty catching. Never Ever Getting Back Together is especially so. Love Story was a decent earlier one too. Not keen on her as a person though. Seems to use blokes for publicity be it the number of extremely popular guys she's seen with or writes songs about to make money from when it all goes tits up.
