Tomorrow, get yourselves to anywhere on the route, just been to Masham in North Yorkshire and it was brilliant. I haven't had many better feel good moments than today, there's lots of waiting around but when you get the nod from the motorcycle cops that the Peloton is jsut a few minutes away the atmosphere just goes into meltdown, the hairs stand up and the tension builds. I and my family were no more than a foot away when they passed. You must not miss it, Vous Rouges!!!!
Id get more excited watching the rabbits run around on stairfoot round about wile waiting for lights to change then I would watching blokes ride a bike fast. Hairs standing up on the back of your neck ? Really ? Does all forms of transport excite you or just bike riding ? What happens when you see a jogger or a bloke getting on a bus ?
I watched a tiny bit of it on tele yesterday and couldn't help thinking how many people stood at the side of the road would have seen it as a massive anti-climax given the effort involved in actually being there with all the road closures.
I think if you asked them, they would say they had an amazing day. What I find really interesting is that the people having a pop, spend hundreds of pounds watching BFC all over the country, to watch us be absolute $hite and get relegated. Now that IS a complete waste of time, effort and money. But hey
I have never had the slightest interest in either the sport or TDF. However, this appears to have been a fantastic success for all concerned. Communities near or on the route have been galvanised, embraced it & brought together in celebration of the event, new and old fans alike have turned out in their thousands in great spirit and good humour to give it their full backing. How can something that has been so positive and brought so much joy to so many be a bad thing? Finally, Yorkshire has been shown at it's most stunning & beautiful best. A reminder that we live in a special county.
It's been a brilliant thing. I went out on a 90 mile ride yesterday. The amount of villages celebrating it was superb. People actually out and about with smiles on their faces, waving to us as we passed through. Why people would criticise it, is beyond me. Maybe they just prefer to stay in their bedrooms, criticising stuff.
Like many am not that fussed about the race but i have to say the bits i saw on TV showed yorkshire off as a absolutely stunning county. Its the dodworth gala on the welfare today though ,so unless they get hopelessly lost and pedal down the high street ,i dont imagine seeing any of it
Feeling very proud of Yorkshire today Flicking between ITV and the French coverage (I'm too lazy to concentrate on the French full time) where they're talking in glowing terms about the countryside, "châteaux" (Château Howard, indeed), etc. There's been a very positive response from the French re: the impressive turnout, etc. Would have loved to have been there to see it first hand but it's great to see such a brilliant advert for Yorkshire here in deepest Burgundy. Expect lots of French tourists in the next few years.
Re: Feeling very proud of Yorkshire today wonder what they'll make of Château Fox Hill, Château Firth Park, Château Attercliffe et al?
Typical response from Conan - how is it ignorant?? The tour is not for everyone personally I think it's dog **** and is only watched by ****s
