I think the diamond formation has to return, that's what we used when we were playing well (oh such a long time ago). Using proper full backs would help too Turnbull Williams Holgate Ramage Smith Scowen Bailey/Pearson Hourihane Lalkovic Kiwomya/Winnall Waring
Turnbull Williams crainie Ramage Smith Hourihane scowen Pearson lalkovic Waring Winnall No messing just a straight 4 4 2. Playing Hourihane on the right wing... Keep it simple Danny.... Please
I don't think we have the players to play the diamond anymore. The attacking midfield is key to that formation to find space in midfield and although I like Lalkovic he isn't able to find the pockets of space that Williams used to do. It also puts huge amounts of pressure on the full backs to perform and I'm not sure Williams and Smith are ready for that. I'd go 442.. Turnbull Williams Ramage Nyatanga Smith Kiwomya Scowen Pearson Lalkovic Winnall/Lita Waring
Playing a left footed central midfield player on the right winger is keeping it simple? And I thought some of Danny's starting selections were bizarre ...... Winnall won't be fit, and if he starts then it shows Danny is getting desperate which is never a good sign.
Well the one thing we all agree on is the full backs which instantly means Danny will stick with Cranie and Nyatanga at full back. Really starting to think selling Cranie would be a good move, his relegation record speaks for itself.
Agreed. I will be very worried about the plan moving forward if Danny picks the same full backs at Crawley. Cranie is a strange one as he has more than enough ability at this level, but where do you play him? Not dominate enough at centre back, seems unwilling tto overlap at right back, isn't good enough at centre mid...
A poor man's david luiz... got quality but hasn't got the right attributes for a certain position. And from what I can see, his leadership qualities are non existent. I know there's the argument that being captain is less of a big deal in modern football but in those tough moments in games the young lads in particular will look to the captain to reassure them, bark orders etc and Cranie doesn't provide that.
Ramage is the captain really. He's the one that does all the organising & shouting, it's just that managers never give the armband to loan signings. Not something to worry about
Eh? I don't get that. He's been relegated twice in his career & both of them times he was one of his team's better performers.
GK: Ross Turnbull. LB: George Smith. CB: Peter Ramage. CB: Martin Cranie. RB: Mason Holgate. LM: Milan Lalkovic. RM: George Williams. CM: Conor Houriane. CM: Ben Pearson. ST: Leroy Lita. ST: George Waring. Simple 4-4-2 and everyone in positions they know. We need to accomodate our top scorer in the position he's best in and so that means only playing one of Scowen/Pearson. Waring isn't good enough or experienced enough to be up front on his own. Winnall won't start and so Lita is our only real option.
You can change the team week in week out but if the players are ****, more often than not the end result and performance will be the same.
Said it since Flicker dropped it, but we need to play 3-5-2. GK: Turnbull/Davies RWB: Holgate/Bree/Williams RCH: Cranie/Holgate CH: Ramage/BFJ LCH: Nyatanga/Cowgill LWB: Smith CM: Pearson/Bailey/Digby CM: Scowen/Berry/Digby CAM: Hourihane/Lalkovic ST: Winnall/Lalkovic/Lita/Hemmings CF: Waring/Oates
I'd love us to go back to 352. Big ask for Smith though as the only left back. Hardest job on the pitch in 352 as well.
I can see Wilson going 9-1 Turnbull Berry, Nayatanga, Cranie, M'voto, Ramage Smith, Holgate, Cowgill, Bree, Waring, With just George Williams on the bench,
--------------Turnbull--------------- Cranie - Holgate - Ramage - Smith Berry - Bailey - Pearson - Jennings ---------- Hourihane -------------- ---------------Lita-------------------
I agree with JakeWarrior when he suggests using proper full backs rather than 'experienced' central defenders. There has been some criticism about Cranie's lack of over-lapping runs on Tuesday but what can we expect from a central defender who is nothing like an attacking full back. Kiwomya to too lightweight and tends to get in the way ofover-lapping full backs so best stick him on the bench out of the way. Perhaps consider 4-2-3-1 formation (and Turnbull of course) Williams/Ramage/Cranie/Smith - two central defenders and two attack minded full backs Pearson/Scowen Lalkovic/Hourihane/Bailey Waring I've not included Holgate because he is a central defender not a full back; great potential for the future but too lightweight at the moment and was 'mugged' at Doncaster by Forrester
3-5-2 for me as well - only I'd put Cranie as sweeper & move Ramage to a man marking CH I've liked 3-5-2 ever since I think it was Glenn Hoddle's Swindon give us a good seeing to
