Scowen and Watkins injured, Pearson and Digby gone?

    Hourihane & Abbott?
    Hourihane & Bree?
    Hourihane & Mawson?

    Lets hope Connor stays fit

I'd try to make as few changes as possible and put some faith in Brad Abbott or eve James Bree. If we move Watkins, we've to bring Roberts or Nyatanga in at centre half which unbalances that settled back 4 we seem to be getting.

Up front, I'd throw the lad from Man U straight in. Allegedly a big lad, could be the sort of player we need now we've got 2 out and out wingers. Sam and Connor could benefit from that as well.

Could Williams do a job in there?

I'd like to see that. He can certainly do a job at the point of a midfield diamond. Different to playing in a midfield 2 but he has plenty of running in him.

Hammill, Hourihane, Williams, Isgrove as a midfield four. It certainly wouldn't be 0-0!

Given the squad available, I would give James Bree a go. It is his preferred position and he needs game-time. He chose us ahead of going into the Manchester United academy. He has potential. Why should we delay putting him into his preferred position in a game like this? I hope Kilkenny does come, as it could be he who does the mentoring job to bring on young James. They are compatible in terms of position. Of course, if Bree is being developed as a holding midfielder, who will come in at right back?

I hope it's Bree or Abbott. I saw the Mawson in midfield experiment & it wasn't impressive.

    Davies
    Wabara Long Mawson White
    Isgrove Bree Hourihane Hammill
    Fletcher Winnall

    Subs -
    Townsend
    Williams
    Roberts
    Templeton
    Abbott
    Williams
    White

Not included Watkins because I think he's injured.

Mawson was a disaster in midfield as you rightly point out.

Keep him where he has been for the last couple of games

Not majorly disappointed with loaning Digby out but do find it strange that we didn't wait till after this game and we had brought another midfielder in

Wouldn't surprise me to see the young striker we got from Weston Super Mare, with him turning down Birmingham because they wanted him for the U21's and us because of more first team opportunities
