Steele McLaughlin Mvoto Nyatanga Kennedy Jennings Etuhu Dawson Cywka RNL O'Grady Subs: Turner Hassell Mellis McCourt Proskwich Lawrence Pedersen
Got to be unchanged, surely? Unless fitness/injuries say otherwise. Having said that, I'd like to see RNL start.
Just because we won doesn't mean we can't change the starting 11 at all. I would certainly give RNL a start over Pedersen. Pedersen started, but only played the same amount of time as RNL. If you split the 45 minutes up, Pedersen played in a 1-1 draw, and RNL played 45 minutes of a 2-0 win.
I am curious as to why Pederson was subbed -was he injured or was it tactical? He played well for 45 mins Ruben was knackered at the end and he only played 45 mins so I dont think he could start and do 90 definitely not if he put as much effort in as he did yesterday. Personally I would start with the same 11 that started at Reading and stick RNL on at half time again unless injuries dictate otherwise, We were the better side in the first half and could easily have won it 2-0 but for a bad penalty and a couple of good saves and near misses
I would probably start with the same side though McLaughlin must be in Danny's thoughts as he's a talented lad. Either start with RNL or give him a good 45 minutes. Pedersen did well he did better.
Danny mentioned in his post match that Pedersen was tired at half time, and that obviously pushed him to make a change. I suppose neither of them are fully match fit, which is understandable.
Kelvin Etuhu was immense for us last season, in the middle of the park. For reasons that history will never answer, Flicker switched to 4-4-2 and at that point his fate was sealed. Give me last season's Etuhu over this season's Frimpong. Any day of the week.
So a half each with both giving it their all is probably the best solution rather than one trying to pace themselves and getting criticised for not trying
Regularly making a half time substitution sounds like a strange tactic, but could very well be a decent idea. They both deserve some game time to get into the swing of things, and show us what they can do.
