Isn't Austin a better choice rather than risking it in a game like this? nt

    I would think it'd be Kay right-back...

Maybe he's going for the extra height and presence, set-pieces may be key.

    Derek Parker reckons:

Reid will be playing at right back.

    FORAN IN FOR EASTWOOD
Posted on: Saturday, April 14th 2007

Richie Foran replaces the injured Freddy Eastwood in attack

Southend make one change for this afternoon's crunch match with Barnsley, as Richie Foran replaces Freddy Eastwood in attack and will partner Matt Harrold at Roots Hall.

Eastwood is ruled out after suffering back spasms at Preston on Monday.

The Blues will be looking to follow up their stunning win at Deepdale and try to edge themselves nearer to safety in the Championship.

As things presently stand in the table, Barnsley are two points out of the drop zone following their own impressive defeat of Birmingham earlier in the week.

    Team Line-ups:

Southend: Flahavan, Francis, Clarke, Barrett, Hammell, Campbell-Ryce, Maher, McCormack, Gower, Harrold, Foran.

Subs: Collis, Sodje, Hunt, Moussa, Bradbury.

Barnsley: Colgan, Heckingbottom, P Reid, Nyatanga, Togwell, Ferenczi, Howard, Kay, K Reid, Nardiello, Devaney.

Subs: Jones, Rajczi, Austin, McCann, Lucas.

Big match so we experiment with someone, from centre, at right back when we have an experienced player on the bench!

    Foran isn't exactly ****!

Bit of a hot head though. Few hard challenges early on and see him lose it.

Didnt Togwell play right back a few times

for Port Vale. And Reid & Kay are often named as midfielders.
