    this has happened 10 times in the 18 seasons since division went to 24 teams</p>

    of those 10 times:</p>

    the 4th bottom team has been relegated7 times</p>

    the 5th bottom team has never been relegated</p>

    the 6th bottom team has been relegated 3 times</p>

    the relgated teams have been clear of the relgation zone after 43 points by:-</p>

    0 pts (ie GD) twice</p>

    1 pt four times</p>

    2 pts twice</p>

    3 pts twice</p>

    4th bottom = 21st was relegated 7 times and </p>

    6th bottom = 19th was relegated 3 times</p>

    5th bottom = 20th has never been relegated</p>

    No, I meant of the teams that avoided relegation when they were in the bottom 3 with 3 games remaining. What position in the bottom 3 were they in with 3 games remaining. I assume most, if not all, were 22nd.
