    Teams have set up to defend against us in the group stages' last night they were very diciplined and were very hard to break down' very much like a lot of games at oakwell last season' hopefully the knockout stages will see us playing teams that try to play and afford us a bit more space to work with.

    Looks like Netherlands in the L16 unless Czech beat Turkey - then its Slovakia. Then Italy in the quarters - if things go according to plan.

    Belgium played significantly better than we've got close to in beating Romania and I think France made 8 changes for their final game.
    That being said boring, scientific possession at all costs football isn't totally unique to Southgate. :)

    France have never really played well under him. Just their quality of player always shone through. They don't play badly, but they don't play brilliant either like Spain or Germany have recently

    Absolutely, and England have always struggled against sides like that. The ones that are good enough to qualify for tournaments, but rarely make it past the group stages/last 16. I'd have actually preferred to play the Dutch on Sunday. At least they'd have tried to win the game. Slovakia will probably try and keep it tight, and then nick a goal, like Slovenia, Serbia etc.
