some usb speakers because you can hardly hear the laptop speakers when a dvd is playing on Windows media player. Installed it all correctly but they are even quieter than the laptop was originally when the DVD plays. is there a setting or a control panel that I am missing with regard to playing dvd's or is it just one of those things regarding sound and laptops which play dvd's?

    Thanks for help,

    USB speakers ?

Do they have their own power supply or do they just draw power via the USB lead?

thats the reason then, no external power = no loudness.

Make sure your volume properties aren't set low or muted.
