Tech Help Please - Two years worth of Barnsley matches on my Sky+ box...

...and I want to get them on my PC.

I have a USB TV Card thingy and can record directly from the sky box to my PC. It's just the software that came with the TV Card (WinTV) seems to lose a lot of the quality even on the highest recording settings...

Does anyone know of any better capture software that I could use for this purpose? I'll probably want to cut the beginnings/ends off the records and remove the adverts as well...again, any software recommendations for this? Fair enough I know you can do this with the windows movie maker, but again, once saving the editted file you lose a lot of the quality as it seems to insist on saving it in that rubbish WMV format.

I've heard that H.264 format is the business so ideally I'd like to be able to end up with these types of files.

Any help would be greatly appreciated....I'd be happy to make the contents available for download to anyone on here once I've sorted it.
