OK. So I was thinking of getting tickets for the Leeds game in January whilst in the UK to see the current squad in action as the last time I was able to come, we lost 2-0 on a miserable cold Tuesday night to Hartlepool. However, on principal, I dont believe in spending £36 on ANY Championship football match. The decider was yesterday when I went with a group of Italian friends to Ravenna where it was a max 1 degree C all day and in spite of wearing a sweater, Berghaus fleece, waterproof, scarf , gloves etc I was freezing my nuts off !! I realized then that I had turned into a complete Wuss and Southern softie and would never survive a Tuesday night January footie match in Blighty. Therefore I was interested in the latest Official announcement that BFC has ditched RS for the commentary so , instead, would like to spend the money on the annual subs for Player. However can anyone answer a few queries I have? 1 Is Player available anywhere i.e is the content Geo-locked due to any FL licensing issues or available outside UK? 2 Are HD highlights available to download or are they streaming only? If the answer to Q1 is that it is not Geo-locked it would be OK as I have a modest but stable 7MB/sec connection via a microwave dish across the valley from the church tower. However using VPN drops it on occasions to as low as 1.5 -2MB/sec obviously useless for live HD streams. 3 The potential showstopper for me is that the small print states that the latest version of Flash Player!! is needed. Since Flash is pretty much 'dead', hated and Adobe are no longer developing it, I am not sure that any new discoveries of security holes will be plugged. As I use my laptop for stuff like Internet banking and Adobe has a seriously bad reputation as a security risk especially with Win 7 and Win 10 - which is my OS, I have never installed it and have never found a need to. Does anyone have a view on this or what functionality is lost without it? Better still does anyone know if any updates to Player are due, and that will remove the need for Flash? Is there a 'try before you buy' option as I dont want to shell out for a years subs and find half the stuff (particularly Highlights) isnt accessible Ta!
There's no live Video feed on Player HD The only live content is audio mate. You get full HD match replays a couple of days after the games.
Re: There's no live Video feed on Player HD Yea I realise that mate (I did say highlights which obviously are not live) but it doesn't really answer my main questions which were -Can you download the HD highlights or only stream them and what content needs Flash?
I'm also contemplating taking out a subscription and would be interested in whats being asked. As well as: Does it run on IOS Is it locked to a single logon or a device. ie. Would son be able to listen on his phone at the same time? Although an annual subscription is cheaper, what's on out of season?
You can't download them from Player, but they work anywhere in the world (well, they work in Germany and Austria). A few days after they appear on Player, some highlights often come up on the club's YouTube channel and you can download them from there if you want. As far as the Flash issue is concerned, no idea whatsoever, but for about £38 per year it's good value for someone like you who lives outside the UK. Since it's a pittance for a year's subscription anyway, I can't see why there should be a "try before you buy" option. I use my laptop for everything, including banking etc and I've never ever EVER had a problem, and I've had Player (with a break following the switch to RS) for years and years with no problems. Just go for it. It's a good service.
Thanks S. Just a quick question though. Do you have Flash installed and do you run IE on Windows 10 or 7??
There is an app called playerHD which you can download and log into to see all the content and listen to the live commentary. Thats the only way i access it these days as I gave my laptop to my dad. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Really!!! I take it you dont have much to do with IT. It is common knowledge that Adobe Flash is one of the greatest and most exploited security vulnerabilities on PCs that run it. Just type the following into Google search and you will get hundreds of links explaing why. 'Is adobe flash really a security risk for PC'
i must be very lucky then that I've used internet banking for years and always had flash player installed without a problem. Along with millions of others
Re: PS just one example... Just one example of many... Adobe Rushes Out Emergency Patch For Critical Flash Player ... <cite class="_Rm">www.darkreading.com/attacks-breaches/adobe...flash...vulnerability/d/.../1327308</cite> Cached 26 Oct 2016 - Also affected are versions 11.2.202.637 and earlier of Adobe Flash Player for Linux. Adobe defines a critical vulnerability as any security flaw that if exploited would allow an attacker to run arbitrary code on a system without the user's knowledge. PPS I have MCSE microsoft certification albeit very old and prior to retiring worked in IT Telecoms (Contact Centre design and implementation)
You ARE very lucky. Millions have not been so lucky. See my reply to Brush Many IT people I know would not touch it with a 50ft bargepole!
I am. I thought that most browsers don't allow software to execute on your system these days, I remember having to stop using Chrome for Sky because of that.
It wont run on a PC without flash at least not on a Win 7 pc Its not geolocked If you have either an ios or android tablet you can avoid flash by using the player HD app
Don't know mate. As I say it is a long time since I got my MCSE and it was more about networking and I rapidly moved into IT Telecom Voip etc However, I thought Flash is an application in its own right and Adobe has become a standing joke with the number of patches they are constantly releasing to address newly discovered security holes in Mozilla Firefox and Explorer. There are many many articles on the vulnerabilities of Flash enabled browsers.
Fair enough but I suggest you read this and then decide. Hackers rely on complacency when it comes to PC exploiting security http://home.bt.com/tech-gadgets/com...nd-what-you-should-do-about-it-11364012393659
