Anyone know how to fix a problem with windows IE 7

For some time now when launching it often doesnt always work - it comes up with the message Connecting to site 212.58.251.195 (which is the BBC homepage - my homepage). and never gets past there. Once it does work then it keeps working for all links etc but if I start a brandnew window the same thing can happen.

I never get this problem with Firefox. For most things it doesnt matter but I do need IE for a particular application .

I tried all the usual delete cookies webpages reset etc but it makes no difference

    Any suggestions welcomed

    Do you use zone alarm?

I had a similar problem when I used it. Try disabling it and just using windows firewall and see how that goes.

Thanks I dont use Zone Alarm but I think I've fixed it

Found the following on a technical website

Went through the lot and its working now - suspect it was dns related as just running the reset stuff didnt work.

Have to see if it stays fixed to be sure though....

If its Internet Explorer 7 - try going to "Tools" -> "Internet Options" -> "Advanced" tab -> Click the "Reset" button at the bottom and walk through the prompts. This will reload IE7 as it was when it was first downloaded - minus the add-ons and plug-ins. Also, if its a DNS issue, try some of the commands listed below. Just type them into a command prompt.

    ipconfig /flushdns

    ipconfig /registerdns

    netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

    netsh winsock reset catalog

    netsh int ip delete arpcache

Don't know if this'll help but....

Eusing Free Registry Cleaner and Eusing Window Washer are excellent.

You might also try HijackThis and pasteyour log into here. You can then check anything that may be suspicious on the geek sites and delete using HijackThis.

You're bound to pick up a few nasties along the way and gay porn sites are no exception.
