When you say "burn avi files to DVD", are you meaning make a data disk with the AVI files on for a DivX-enabled DVD player or are you meaning you want software to convert the AVI to DVD-Video format (ie make a DVD that any DVD player can play)?

If it's the former, any freeware burning program will do. I used to use ImgBurn when I was on Windows.
If it's the latter, try DVD Flick.

I know a few people who use this and apparently it's a doddle. There's a guide on the site.
