(I hope this piccy works, I have attached it)
The left blue connection on there is what I used to connect my old monitor to the pc. I now have a new PC and this one is no longer in use, but I am giving it to my grandad becasue he'd like to use it for some very basic stuff. He has an LCD tv in his bedroom that he'd like to connect it to, but I don't know what sort of connections it has. Any clues as to a) what connections the LCD TV may have; and b) whether it would be possible to connect using the blue port on the left?
Cheers.

lol, i'm struggling. Gonna have tea then upload to a picture hosting site. The BBS seems not to want to accept any attachment - even only 10kb
check the back of your computer the same connection you use needs to be on the rear of the lcd tv. The multi pn with the 2 screw holes one on either side, midddle usually blue. Not every LCD will have them.
So would there need to be a connection on the LCD TV identical to the one above in order to connect them? Any idea what this port is called? DVI or something?
The LCD TV may have either the blue or the white port - both are monitor connections - or may have neither. The blue one, if present on the TV will be labelled VGA or PC. The white, if present will be labelled DVI. Whichever you have on the TV, you will need either a DVI cable or a VGA cable to connect. These can be purchased cheaply from PC shops. If you have neither on the TV, this complicates matters considerably. It may still be possible to connect if the graphics card on the PC also has a TV out socket next to the white one (can't tell for sure from the pic) but this would not be a satisfactory long term solution. But a budget 17" widescreen monitor weighs in at about £75 these days if a purchase was necessary.
Brilliant - cheers mate! I have a monitor that he can have that already has the required cable with it, but it's an old chunky CRT. He's more than welcome to have it, but I think it's more of a space thing than anything - doesn't really want to things if he can get away with his TV. But I will find out from him soon enough anyway (would actually be nice to have the monitor out of my way tbh lol). Thanks again mate, as usual you've been a great help!
