I've two 'smart' (actually, stupid) blu-ray players but neither has 4oD. I've also got some streaming software (Nero MediaHome 4 Essentials) which I got free with one of the Blu-Ray players. This lets me stream any video, photo or music file on my PC to my blu-ray player and watch it on my TV. All well and good, but what I really want to do is set 4oD playing (or anything else for that matter) on my PC and stream that so I can watch it on the big telly downstairs. Is there any software that can do that? When I say any software, I obviously mean free software. I'm a dinosaur and still using windows XP if that makes any difference.

If you have any idea what I'm on about, and I'm not even sure that I do, then your help would be very much appreciated.

Is it because you missed The Man With The Ten Stone Testicles?

Sorry, I appreciate that wasn't very helpful

I taped the first episode of Masters of Sex last week. It's a drama not a pervy Channel 4 pseudo doc. Haven't watched it yet, so it might be ****, but I forgot to tape it this week. Tape? Yeah, 'cos we use tape all the time these days. Anyway, I'm not going to bother watching it if I can't get 4oD on me telly. I hate watching shows sat in from of the computer.

But now you've mentioned a show about a man with massive ballacks, I'm even more keen to get it working.

With Nero Media Home 4 you would need to download the show from 4OD and then you would need an internet connection to your TV or Blu Ray to play in via DLNA, which can be a bit flaky, or otherwise if your TV or Blu Ray player has a USB port put the show on a USB and do it that way.

That's the only way I know how to do it.

EDIT: Apparently you can also do it through Plex Media Server:

Just had a look at the Plex website and it appears to do exactly the same as what I've already got. It streams files that are already on your computer. My Nero software can do that. If I put any music, video or photograph into a folder that is shared on my network then Nero will stream it over my wi-fi network and I can pick it up on my blu-ray player downstairs and watch it on my TV.

I want a piece of software that is capable of streaming files that are not on my PC, files that are on the internet like the content on 4oD. Then I can click play on the 4oD website on my computer and watch it on my telly. Alternatively, a way of downloading shows from 4oD which Nero can then stream, although I'm not sure that is legal.

Thanks for the help, but it's not really what I'm after.

No you can do do it through a 4OD plug in but it's a bit flaky apparently so maybe not the ideal solution.

Have you checked to see if there are any firmware updates available for the Blu Ray players? I know Samsung has 4OD on some of it's TVs and Blu Rays. It's also available on Playstation 3 and Xbox.

    Thanks anyway mate.

4oD will allow you to download content to an android device but not a PC. Why? What difference does it make. The oddballs.

They must have changed their policy, I used to download programmes from 4OD on my PC and they had a time limit on them.

Nice bit of software. But it doesn't do what I want it to do. I can get loads of add-ons and watch those on my PC (like 4oD), but it will only stream files that are locally stored on my PC, pretty much like what I've already got does.

    Thank you though.
