I got some kind of virus on my cpu last year and have tried numerous antivirus software etc but the cpu still seems very slow and and the graphics aren't correct (pixels fall off the screen at times with lines down it, quite difficult to explain).

So I just want to start from scratch, wipe all programs off etc and start again - how do I go about doing this? cheers

Should have recieved a recovery disc with the computer when you bought it. You need to reformat the hard-drive (this will wipe everything - so back up if needs be) and should leave everything running much smoother

All you'll need to do is stick the disc in and let it run it's course...might take a bit of time, but it's simple enough to do

If you've still got the original Windows disk

    (and registration code)

Pop it in the disk drive and I think it will give you the option to do a fresh reinstallation of windows. Be warned though, you will lose everything on the computer.

Also if your copy of Windows is dodgy it'll be found out when it attempts to connect to the internet and update itself.

And if you are backing up old files to transfter to your new OS - Remember, some may be infected with whatever virus you may have previously had. Make sure you get em scanned.
