I've bought an external hard drive today, they've got one on special at PC World for £40. I'm wanting to back up my computer hard drive and back it up regular cos if it ever blew up i'd be in the ****. Is there any free software that does this?

Try one of these on this page.

What you use will depend if you want to back up your whole installation or just back up certain files or folders such as music or pictures. I do the latter and use SyncBack for it.
