Apologies for asking this on a Sunday afternoon, but my homepage has been hijacked by this: res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\shdocnv.dll/warningAPI.htm#ID=MS038005;BGW; Basically, when I clicky onto Tinternet, this warning page opens up instead of my usual homepage. Tried everything I can think of, still won't shift. Absolutely pulling what little hair I've got left out! Greatfully appreciate any help on this one. Cheers in advance. OOB.
we used to have that message whenever we turnedcomputer on it used to say that and then say close/ignore. it used to work fine after we clicked ignore. the problem with it though is that system32, is infact an important part of the hardware in my computer and usually when accessing it it would warn you not to do because changing it could damge your pc.
only when this message started coming up, system32 seemed to have disintigrated from our pc. we got all sors of viruses and things bggering up and finally had to take it for fixing.
not to put a downer on it like

if you're on mozilla firefox then open it up go to TOOLS the OPTIONS select General and edit your own home page or on internet Explorer right click choose properties (if on the desktop) and change the homepage via that...
Doesn't work. Keeps defaulting back to the warning page. First thing I tried........any other ideas? OOB. PS: That flashing piccy is really annoying when reading a post.
when you've tried resetting your homepage have you always tried resetting it to the same page? or have you tried setting it to a few different ones? Id suggest downloading microsofts anitspyware thing, it has an inbuilt homepage tool that you can lock your tool page with. It'll also tell you if theres anythign installed on your computer that is specifically targetting the homepage.
Firstly get Spybot S&D - http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/ Install, update to the latest definition files and run. Fix anything it finds. Secondly get Ewido - http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ Install but UNcheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu" during installation. Update to the latest definition files and run. Fix anything it finds. Then uninstall Spybot and get Microsoft Antispyware http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...A57-4C57-A8BD-DBF62EDA9671&displaylang=en Run another scan and set its background guard to run. If you're still having problems after this, download HijackThis http://216.180.233.162/~merijn/files/HijackThis.exe Create a folder called HJT in your C drive and copy HijackThis.exe into it. Run HijackThis and set to create a logfile - DON'T TRY TO FIX ANYTHING! Post your logfile and I'll have a look for anything obvious.
