No it's not a player are linked to. They are making money from have dozens and dozens of Barnsley FC related merchandise available....... https://www.temu.com/search_result...._1754041994052_ejxtc34h2c&refer_page_sn=10032 Maybe they know something we don't as there is a Barry Bannan item in our section. Anyway does our club still go after places that sell items with our property on them? I remember that official site article years ago about going after people making money off the back of the club, but it's gone.... https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk//news/...-counterfeiting-and-brand-abuse.-3352463.aspx I believe we did at the time send out some cease and desist letters, but not sure we still do.
I've never trusted Temu - it comes up a lot on my Socials, and seems to try to sell total crap, or something that's probably not gone through rigorous safety checks. If I'm being paranoid, please tell me.
I was chuckling at the new kit on sale from DHGate with the personalisations of Benson, Cosgrove and O’Keeffe.
Ironically Temu has a better range of merch and you can guarantee it will all be in stock unlike our offerings
you are being (a bit) paranoid, as with this type of site it’s a mixture of crap and some decent stuff, you just have to be very selective
I always feel like these factories(sweat shops) in the low cost manufacturing world have 2 loading bays - one for the merchandise going to the shops/retailers in the West and one going online/factory managers/owners back pocket. Not sure how I feel about it tbh, these global sports (and fashion) company b&stards screw down the costs by going to the poorest places in the world and treating people like **** and then have the temerity to charge us massive mark ups - I don't know what the margin on a £55 football shirt is after materials, manufacturing and shipping costs - about £45? Then they bitch and moan when you can get it online or from some market stall for £15. On the other hand, probably the people working in the factory is getting paid to do a job that would be somewhere else if they were more expensive.
Good to know - it just came across as a site that shouldn't be trusted. Changing the subject, what is TikTok shop all about? Same sort of thing as Temu?
There has been documentaries about them. Clothing using fabrics that wouldn't pass UK safety checks and how easy it is for kids to order weapons on there.

So Temu itself is a platform, similar to Amazon. Different 'shops' pay Temu to sell via their site. China is really well organised in terms of factory types for districts. It's why you'll see the same Cities popping up as 'distributed from'... Such as Guangdon and Shengzhou (which is known as the Chinese Silicon Valley and specialises is tech), Jiangsu (fabrics and textiles) etc... Their pay may appear low considering inflation in the West... But in real terms they have low unemployment, low rate of homelessness, housing and land is owned by the people and the Government can't tax you on your property or stop your family from inheriting it. It's a very socialist regime out there, with a lot of the money being reinvested back into the social infrastructure rather than sitting in the pockets of a wealthy CEO. This ultimately means the capitalist elite in the West brand them as sweat shops, slave labour etc... It's why America, and in particular Trump, are very anti-China. Yes they have some human rights violations, but so does America, Saudi, Israel etc and all are seen as Western Capitalist Regimes. Temu itself displays your mobile number to the seller. There's some suggestion that this is sold onto third parties which is why you will get spam messages and calls, sometimes in Chinese. So it's not Temu itself that is the issue, it's the sellers that have people working in them that sell your details onto criminals. The same does happen now with ebay, amazon etc but on a much smaller scale
So back to the point about Temu selling Barnsley memorabilia. Certain shops will make them specifically when you order. It's like a custom order rather than it being in stock with them. The images are AI generated
Temu stuff is really poor quality, I won't buy anything off them again, my inflatable doll wouldn't blow up.
