Dont understand your post. The poetition got over 4 million signatures which is enough to trigger a debate in parliament. It doesnt mean there will be a second referendum - even if the debate decides the petition has merit
The government has already responded to the petition and said "no way". The debate will be simply that. No second vote will happen.
Because we actually get the benefit to reflect on the decision and digest just what has been done. The vote was close. A 2% swing is small and almost certainly a large percentage of those who voted to leave would likely vote remain now the whole campaign and those leading it have shown their true colours.
The outcome of the referendum should be followed through BUT there is some validity in having a referendum on the actual deal that gets negotiated with three options; 1) Accept the deal offered 2) refuse the deal and walk away totally 3) refuse the deal and go back in
What's the point in the first referendum if we are to have another because some dont like the out come of the 1st one. I'm sure we wouldn't be debating it had the result been to remain.
It was fraudulent on the leave side. Instead of the promised plan, they've all fecked off and left us with a political/financial mess and increased hate crime. It was like backing a secretly lame horse. True, if remain had won there'd be no debate because the status quo would have prevailed and nothing would change. Except hopefully, that the EU would have been rocked by the discontent.
well if we had a second referendum and it was to remain that's one all. Do we then need a best of three?
Of course we'd be debating it. That's what democracy is about. Or are you saying that because we voted a Tory government in at the last election they should stay in power for ever now? That's the same argument.
I didnt vote. If there was a second one I'd be voting leave for sure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
We will have to do this with genral elections aswell if we don't get the result we want we all just sign a petition and have a re vote until we get the result we want like it.
Or just introduce new laws against campaigners using known falsities in their campaigns. Anyone doing so gets prison sentences. It would soon stop the ******** that has fooled a lot of people. They could also introduce new regulations that state that in the event of a close call vote there is the option to have a revote a set period of time later o ensure that everybody voted how they truly wanted to. Not for this vote but for future votes. Then the other obvious change in regulation with the use of the internet these days people should have the opportunity to logon and change their vote. Why exactly is voting a one day thing? Why not let people vote over a period of a month? I believe it would increase voter turn out significantly because people have more opportunity but also because they could react to how the vote is actually going. If conservatives were somehow winning in Barnsley after day 20 then people who haven't bothered to vote might get off their arses and vote labour
Nothing has changed. This article 50 ain't even being started yet. All that is happening is the all high and mighty flexing purse strings and doing even more to shaft staff within business etc. Yet more greed and more shitting on the workers by the rich. It's a perfect excuse for them to use. But of course. It's 17.5 million folks fault for voting out. Is it ********....
I don't think their should be a second vote. For better or worse the decision is made. I do think some fairly clear lies were told by some prominent politicians on the leave side and I don't think these should just be ignored and accepted. I think that parliament has the current ability to explore the behaviour of its most and that Gove and Johnson should be seriously investigated.
