Another one getting a mention http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/...barnsley-target-inverness-caley-chief-1512944
Its all we'll and good that all these good and potentially good would be reds managers coming or being put forward put the reality is the choice won't be as straightforward as it looks. As soon as some of them see the budget and weigh up the enormity of the task they'll reach for thee exit door.
I think the appointment alone of Some one like Terry Butcher would be enough to bring back a few more fans
I'd be more than happy with Terry Butcher. Showed what he can do on a budget with his impressive Inverness team that he's built. I met him a few times when he was manager at Motherwell, while I was "studying" at Motherwell College, he's a gentleman.
I really like Butcher, I thought he was a top class player for Ipswich and England and he is doing an amazing job for Inverness however my big reservation is whether he could do it in the championship. I think there is a huge jump from the Scottish leagues to the championship so it would be a big risk. He is a big name though and would command a hell of a lot if respect from the players.
He's got Inverness scoring in the SPL and being a defender himself he would sure up our back line. Would be a popular recruitment. But this line doesn't inspire me with much confidence: "The Oakwell side are hoping to persuade the England legend he has unfinished business in his homeland after unsuccessful spells in charge of Sunderland, Coventry City and Brentford"
Fairly easy for him to ask for effort and commitment and command respect when he could pin this on the dressing room wall behind him!
If the board gave him something to work with retention and recruitment wise he may come. He'd lose nothing IMO if he failed here he would be welcome back into the SPL like a shot. Don gerrim signed up PLEASE. He'd put 1500 on't gate straight away all his england stories would be headline news hailing his return back to English football
Exactly my point. Success in Scotland is measured very differently to here. There is no comparison between Scottish football and the pressure he'd feel here.
Thing is all these names linking to reds job and when they're all boiled down and the most publicised ones see the budget etc there won't be many if any obvious candidates left, more likely chancers and punts IMO we have to set our target and persuade them and butcher would be perfect imo
