Sadly, one of the most popular former snooker players and personalities in the game, has passed this weekend, aged 77!. Apparently he'd been suffering from dementia for some time. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/snooker/articles/c5y78g8828xo
RIP Terry, nice bloke, good player, but you needed a book to read to get you through watching him play!
I liked his first comments just after he'd won the World Final in '79 (which I think was against Dennis Taylor). Obviously a bit shocked, he said "Ohhh I'm in the Final now!". People say negative things about him and Cliff Thorburn for the way they played. But for me as I was a fan of Terry, those games were still full of tension, and that's what snooker was/is all about for most fans.
And when you think of two other former Welsh players, Doug Mountjoy and Ray Reardon, who have both passed in the last few years. They were also well respected and popular personalities in snooker. I hope Terry is having a great match with one of them right now, and a few casual drinks.
