Gave us the best football I've seen at oakwell since wilson in 97, a record points total and not losing a home game in a full season I will probley never see again in my lifetime. Been set up to fail this season I'll eat my words if any manager can keep this group up. Good luck stendel
A total breath of fresh air. And definitely the best guy to coach our young team. Thanks for everything, just wish he could have had more of a chance to show what more he could do.
Just glad I've got over the need to get attached to the playing staff and manager. I love the club, not the owners, manager or players.
Gutted to hear he has gone as he is a very likeable man as well as a good coach. However had the same thing done to him as Paul Heckingbottom with similar result.
Three words, Barnsley Football Club. I have no influence over anything else, so why should I care about people who absolutely will not be around in 18 to 24 months? It's like getting attached to a hamster. Pointless.
when you take those out what are you left with? I’ve supported Barnsley since the 70s. They are my team. In that time girlfriends and even a wife has come and gone. I’ve made friends and lost friends but my club has always been a constant. These days I feel like a stranger in a strange land. I feel detached and enstranged in a way I never have before. No point having a favourite player or getting attached to any player. No point getting attached to a manager who will always leave one way or another given ‘the plan’. The ground still stands but becomes less fit for purpose year on year. in 2 years we have gone from a Barnsley team with a Barnsley born manager, captain and owner to the mess we find ourselves in now.
If they generate good memories, then great, they last forever. Unfortunately, the players and staff don't. Which is why I don't care when they leave.
but what is that? If you have no attachment to the players team or manager what do you support when you say the Club? Do you mean the floodlights?
1999-2000 was better than last season to be 90 minutes from the top flight. 2005 was arguably better too because the side Ritchie got up wasn't as good as what Stendel got straight back up without years of lingering in the third tier.
Opinions I suppose, ritchie did a great job but it was the luckiest promotion ever at one point in the Swansea game it was like attack v defence we were defence trundle dancing through it.
