Saying that Davie was at fault for picking Robbie Williams when we had Nicky Wroe Did anybody see the Nicky Wroe threads yesterday I have nothing wrong to say about Nicky Wroe, but hell fire, lets get things straight If Wroe or Tonge or who ever played today...........it were going to be poor Why...........lack of quality EEEEeeeeeeeerrrrrrrr............have I heard that somewhere before........maybe a few months back (dunno)
Well Wroe came on at Palace - and played well much better than I had expected and I think Tonge is OK at right back which gives us other options -eg Kay in the middle come on be honest can you think of a worse option than Williams for that centre midfield position where one of the main criteria is you are expected to chase up and down the pitch all day which even his greatest defenders wouldnt say was his strongest point
Williams couldn't keep up with me ffs. Unbelievable.. if you'd given me six guesses at who would have replaced Togwell I would never have come up with fat boy.
What I am saying is this................. Whoever played today as cover for Togwell and Howard........whoever....they were going to get some stick Yesterday this message board was full of hatred for Wroe Why ???...........he aint that bad Probably Williams was the worst choice of a poor bunch But the point is this We have in Togwell and Howard two good championship players BUT If they are suspended or injured................who else is there ??? McCann may develep into a good un..........but he aint there yet And remember McCann came in after Ritchie had left So who would we have if Ritchie was still there ???
but would picking a player who is used to that position been the better option? It is one thing playing him out of position (fair do's if it comes off) but it was obvious it was never working so why not change it!?!?!?! Christ sakes bring on heckingbottom shove austin to right back, hasell in the middle and kay in midfield (who young nudger you have said is the best midfielder at the club) not rocket science is it, all i am saying is there were better options available thats why i blame Davey!!!
No McIndoe made it quite clear that once Wolves had come in for him , he wasn't prepared to stay with Barnsley. Somehow Wolves got to know that there was a clause in his contract allowing him to talk to other Championship clubs . Had Andy Ritchie not been sacked , we'd still have lost McIndoe . However , we probably wouldn't have allowed Tommy Wright to go to Walsall and we would've signed Danny Cadamartari . According to Patrick Cryne ( on Radio Sheffield and in the Yorkshire Post ) , the only player Andy wanted to bring in before the loan deadline was Cadamartari .
So who would we have if Ritchie was still there ??? To answer your question (again): Colin Healey; Nicky Wroe & Dale Tonge. A golden chance for one of those to stake a place in the team. Presumably, one that their patience has earnt.
Robbie Williams selection was a gamble taken by Mr Davey in the misguided hope that he could pull off some sort of mastersroke and earn the managers job. He failed miseraby and his it cost us. It shouldalso cost him.
