So its 'proved' that global warming is ******? Seems there was quite a bit of dodgy science in there, as is typical when you are trying to push a minority theory that goes against the vast majority of theory and evidence. http://news.independent.co.uk/environment/climate_change/article2355956.ece As I said before, just cos someone proposes a different theory, this doesn't automatically make all other theories ******.
The validity of the science is not the element that convinces people. What has happened here is that a theory has come along, backed up with science (whether dodgy or otherwise) that fits in with what people want to hear. I don't honestly think people believe it more than the "global warming is happening" they just like it more and therefore bend over backwards to fit the "science" in with their wish for it not to be happening and for it not to be in any way their fault.
What I don't get is the lack of consideration to the influence of the moon and solar activity on the weather. They blame carbon emissions, mainly CO2. This is in my opinion a total fallacy. CO2 is 1.5 times heavier than air and therefore sinks into the ground. If it didn't, you wouldn't need helium to inlate a party balloon, to keep it buoyant. What are Messrs Blair, Cameron, Gore and Co going to do about volcanos - cap them? The climate change swindle will be that whichever party wins the election, taxes will rise on the pretext that the government is doing something.
What happens when all the CO2 is at ground level? How will we breathe? We'll all have to walk around on stilts to breathe, sounds dodgy to me!
Stop worrying! As a mixture of gases, air is fairly evenly mixed, ok the heavier elements do tend to gravitate towards the bottom, however the heat from the sun causes convection (we call it weather) which serves to mix it up nicely.
Not convinced but we live at the top of a hill so we should be OK anyway. I'll keep an eye out on those down the road though, just in case.
Ah...well That shouldn't happen as long as we keep our tree canopy. They suck in the CO2 and chuck out oxygen, allegedly.
Right, guy at the top of the street keeps cutting trees down behind us. I'll put a stop to his game if he tries it again then. Hug a tree, save a life.
One of the scientists in the film is very hacked off with the way what he said was mis-represented. http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/archives/2007/03/swindled-carl-wunsch-responds/#more-417
Global warming is happening, how much is natural and how much influenced by mankind is debatable. What I would like to know is does anyone think that the increase in air fare duty will have the slightest effect on carbon emissions or is it just another cynical ploy to raise tax by stealth ?
Opinions ?

Sort him now! ... you might even get a grant to help you if you say it's connected wi global warming.
Cynical tax obviously. If they wanted to do stop cheap flights altogether then they would remove the tax exemption on aircraft fuel.
Agreed. If someone says that we don't have to worry about anything or change our behaviour in any way, then we are much more likely to accept that, especially if there is some 'science' behind it (regardless of how tight the science is). Easier than considering the other, scarier alternative, and actually doing something about it.
