Reds seek bragging rights to ease the pressure BARNSLEY DERBY County boss Billy Davies reckons he doesn't look at the league standings before Christmas. He said that from the safety of upper mid-table. Barnsley boss Andy Ritchie and new Leeds manager Dennis Wise will wish they needn't bother either. It's not an option, though, when you're second and fourth from bottom. It's too early to talk of season-defining games but everyone involved with Barnsley v Leeds tomorrow is acknowledging it as simply huge. One you just don't want to lose. The shine on Wise's takeover at Elland Road was well tarnished on Tuesday at Preston (coincidentally Davies's former club) with a 4-1 defeat. Leeds have won only once on the road all season, Barnsley have won only once at Oakwell. Both urgently need to break those patterns. Leeds hold a one-point advantage over Barnsley ahead of kick-off. Ritchie's troubles are, not least, that his team don't score enough. "We need to get points on the board, we should have been four or five nil up in some of these recent games," he said. "You want to give yourself a bit of leeway. I don't mind if we win 5-2. But we're not putting our ratio of chances to goals away. "This is a massive game for both of us. They've had a bad defeat, four goals going in. Not least, it's a local derby ... bragging rights and a big three points are at stake." Barnsley and Ritchie are still smarting from the all-South-Yorkshire clash at Hillsborough. Barnsley went down to 10 men and pulled the game back to 1-1 before a wonder strike from Chris Brunt in time added on against the run of play stopped them in their tracks. "We've already played one derby against Sheffield Wednesday and we all know what happened there," Ritchie said. "We've got to make sure we come out on top tomorrow."
is it this one?? There's a starman waiting in the sky He'd like to come and meet us But he thinks he'd blow our minds There's a starman waiting in the sky He told us not to blow it 'Cause he knows it's all worthwhile He told me: Let the children lose it Let the children use it Let all the children boogie
