Of The "Board" and "The Fans" needs to be relaxed when teh team of home grown kids is towing around teh bottom next season. A full season, at least, of transition is in order. Promotion will be a minor miracle as will avoiding the drop. Hard to stomach but there we go.
My initial expectations for this season, recognising that we needed to regroup and ship out a lot of the dross from last season, was a top half finish flirting with the play-offs. With the way that pre-season has gone I fear the same as you. I think we might be in for another season of struggle.
Aye, even I've had to drop my expectation level. Easter seems unlikely now, so I'll say Champions by the week after.
Go with what we've got, plus the potential sales of Cranie and O'Grady, and in my opinion we're goosed. I can't see anything other than another relegation battle. Not sure Kennedy going or staying will make much difference. However, the first game of the season is still over 4 weeks away. Maybe the doom mongers will be proven right and we won't sign anyone else. Personally I think that's very unlikely. I think we'll sign 3 or 4, more if we sell any of the contracted players. We'll have to see. Either way, I'll not be calling for the manager's head. Never done it before, even with Keith bloody Hill, so I'm not going to start now. Hoping for success, but realistic enough to realise that is unlikely unless we make a few good signings. Watching us play the kids will be great if we win, but depressing for the players as well as the fans if they're getting battered every week. They need some experience around them.
Ah well, mate. I'm still looking forward to the new season. Having said that, I'm beginning to think I'll only recognise Steele, M'voto, Nyatanga, RNL, Digby & Rose!
Fully agree with your post as long as we deviate away from the negative stance Wilson took last season. Play a more attractive brand of football and even if we struggle, my thoughts are we will be more tolerant of the regime we have. More of last seasons dross and Wilson will struggle to be in charge for the New Year.
