A chance for our relatively recently Danny assembled imports and academists to test themselves against a team higher up the ladder. Apart from Ramage and Nyatanga (and maybe Holgate) they all looked inadequate. Awful.
Imagine that, being well beaten by a team in 4th in the champs a team who have been in and out of the premier league ... a team with much more investment, a team with a bigger fan base... yes that was such a shock we got turned over.. I mean Barnsley a team with a ST base of 8k. with a town god knows how much smaller, with us having 7 academy lads in it... Imagine that, we lost ... I am shocked and dismayed. Surely we should be rubbing shoulders with "MASSIVE" clubs and be chasing European honours at the least.
Re: Imagine that, being well beaten by a team in 4th in the champs You have to take away the opponents and ask Did we go out to win the game? Did we play the best formation? Did we play the best players in the positions chosen? No to all. Wilson never got anywhere with one up so why try now. Lita looked 40 not 30. Hourihane coasted since October. Team can't put together three passes. Hemmings continues to waste a shirt. Danny needs to sort as even the backers are worried
Re: Imagine that, being well beaten by a team in 4th in the champs what did you think to the performance today? did you enjoy the game?
Re: Imagine that, being well beaten by a team in 4th in the champs Don't think the town is that much smaller to be honest..
Re: Imagine that, being well beaten by a team in 4th in the champs What I saw was a team with 5 academy players give their all against a team that is not going to be far away from promotion. Sure one or two dipped below standards they had set previously, and I don't mean the afore mentioned 5, but in the end it wasn't enough. If we could have kept it at 1-0 it would have been a moral victory especially as the goal was gift wrapped by our player of the season, so far, and the 2nd goal came as we were trying for an equaliser. I personally am happy, on the whole, with what I saw and I think things will start to improve again when Winnall comes back.
lolololololol not that old chestnut... the "were you there" card... are you related to Huddersfield red.
Re: Imagine that, being well beaten by a team in 4th in the champs You are easily pleased. What part of the performance were you happy with?
Re: Imagine that, being well beaten by a team in 4th in the champs the fact that middlesboro are higher up the leagues is irrelevant,we are unable to string more that two or three passes together,we offer nothing in front of goal our midfield is all over the place and we cant defend against anything that is like a threat. We arnt like this because we were playing a much better team,we are like it nearly every week, owt good we do seems little more than a flash in the pan.
Re: lolololololol I suppose we could lose a million pounds a month like Middlesborough that'd be helpful. I thought they were good and we were below average.
Re: lolololololol Yeah well you had to be there to suffer. Try turning up every now and then. To feel the pain.
Re: Imagine that, being well beaten by a team in 4th in the champs Seriously DT you really can't make comments like this. Read the posts again and you'll see that most people who went weren't disappointed that we lost but by the way we lost.
Re: Imagine that, being well beaten by a team in 4th in the champs That we battled well enough to keep in the game as long as we did. Have a word with a few Rotherham fans tonight.
I don't think there was a lot Danny could do differently. If we'd have gone 4-4-2 we'd have got slaughtered with the way they were moving the ball about. The only real criticism I've got is Hemmings been played out wide. We've a natural winger (RNL) out on loan who'd do a better job or we could give Nana a try. We've seen Hemmings out wide a few times and I think it's safe to say he hasn't done well there. Other than that it was pretty much the best team we could put out. I'm guessing Bailey isn't fully fit which is why he was on the bench. Given the lack of players available I don't think a 2-0 defeat is all that bad. If anyone expected or thought we should've got anything out of today's game I'd love them to explain why because I was almost certain we'd lose
I know matey but then we have the BFC Illuminati who are on Wilsons case at every opportunity, and they know who I mean.
Re: Imagine that, being well beaten by a team in 4th in the champs We were helped by Boro's chronic finishing for a while, if that's what you mean. Rotherham fans have seen their team lose fewer games than us in a league higher. They might tell me that.
Re: Imagine that, being well beaten by a team in 4th in the champs You don't 'give your all' and manage to give away so many passes. We were up against a Championship side, admittedly, but a bunch of professional footballers should have an ability to string at least two passes together.
Middlesboro population 138.4k Barnsley 81k half as big again then. Also Boro only have to compete for fans with Hartlepool, Darlington, Sunderland and Newcastle. We have to contend with Leeds, Owls, Blunts, Pikeys, Millers, Hudders, Bradford... not to mention we are in easy reach of Manchester and Merseyside too. Yes they have a much bigger fan base.
I agree we were awful. I had no expectations of anything but a loss but hoped for at least an ok performance. We didn't get it. Our own inabilities were glaring throughout, regardless of who we were playing. Our passing in the opposition half was extremely poor. Poor decision making. Gave them the goals. Very disappointed. Back 4 and GK performed well in their defensive duties. Digby had an ok game. Rest of em were useless. Hourihane and Hemmings in particular might as well have not bothered. Meh.
