Against the world champions as well. Everything you want from an England team; passion, energy, commitment, heart, organisation and no lack of quality. They showed a togetherness and desire tonight that the 'golden generation' rarely did.

No need to get carried away. Early days and there's no way Germany will be that bad in the tournament proper, but you can't ask any more of those players and we'll have an England team to be proud of if they keep that up.

gave their attackers too much space and backed off them far too much - but apart from that first time I actually got a bit excited about our play when Kane scored that great goal and Vardy came on to score that goal with his first touch.

Ought to have scored a couple more as well.

It's refreshing to have an England side that are so exciting to watch attack wise. In the last few years, even with players like Gerrard, Lampard and Rooney who were capable of scoring goals, we looked stunted and sluggish going forward. Now we look like we could be a real threat to any defence.

As you say, still somewhat shaky at the other end, but Roy is a stickler for defensive organisation, and Dier might make a real difference if he keeps doing what he did today.

Glad we won but friendlies are little more than a slightly more active kick about.
