Ryan McLaughlin @RyanMcL2 18m Apologies to the fans, Leg wasn't right at all still and had to come off at half time, hope the lads can bounce back Saturday If he hopes "the lads" can bounce back, I'm assuming he expects not to be involved. And if Hunt doesn't recover........ TK at right back and Nyatanga left back? Not exactly ideal is it? My mates just txt me. Reight old rant it was, alcohol induced I think because his vowels were all over the shop. He's not a fan of Brek Shea, I'll just say that. And he tells me Frimpong wants shooting. Lack of application, lack of intent and a total lack of quality apparently. Which mirrors the opinion of most others that I've read/heard tonight. So I'm assuming Danny's interview was his attempt at putting a positive spin on it. Because he reckons it was a game of two halves and we battered them second half. My mate (and others, including Matt and Adam on commentary) suggested Wigan had the pipe and slippers out second half and were satisfied with their 2-0 lead. Hey ho. I've got to be honest, with Mellis, Hunt and Hassell unavailable, my only issue with the starting XI tonight was the exclusion of Paddy, again. And, I did tell r lass I expected Wigan to beat us by at least two goals. So I can't be too upset that it turned out how it did. But I didn't pay and travel over to witness it so it's easier for me to brush myself down and look towards the Millwall game. I feel for the near thousand who did indeed sit through it. Respect to you all. However, I found the two changes at half time ridiculous. I didn't know COG was injured at that point, but my gripe wasn't purely that he'd been withdrawn, it was more the fact that it was Shea rather than Paddy/Cywka that replaced him. I am of the opinion that lad HAS to play, as part of his loan conditions. Because if not, and Danny prefers him, then my faith in Danny is going to be affected. And why fetch a defender on for a defender when 2-0 down? I had my little moan earlier on twitter. I'm right behind Danny. I wanted him here, and he'd get a long term contract if it was my decision. But my faith in him turning us around and saving this season for us, well, that's fading fast. If we're not three points better off come 5pm Saturday then I reckon we've blown it. But I'm hopeful until then, that we'll beat Millwall. That we'll still be in with a chance. For without hope, what do we have? Goodnight, reds.
First point, I agree he thinks he's out and if it's the same injury he could be out for a while. Personally I think he will go O'brien at right back but I would go Cranie across and M'Voto or Nyatanga at cb. The subs at H/T say to me he needed to tighten it up and maybe he made a mistake with the formation. I haven't been impressed with Shea since he came to the club. Said after the Birmingham game and Blackpool game that I didn't think he was what was needed which some thought different. It's easy saying you would put X (McCourt) but who for. Tonight We've seen people want Cywka MCourt Two strikers Jennings to play but how do you put them in a formation that will work and be functional with and more importantly off the ball.
Mellis is back for Saturday, hopefully Hunt will recover, and in my opinion we've got to give either Paddy or Cywka a start out wide rather than Shea. He's had his opportunities now and not taken them. We'll see, Phil. We're still in it. Millwall are no mugs, but I expect a performance from us.
This is exactly what's wrong with Barnsley fans in general. Frimpong - 3 starts Shea - 4 starts & both getting wrote off. There's no wonder we're in the **** we are
I don't go to under21 games the miss things I'm mad anyway but don't we have an u21 player who can play full back rather than Jimbob who can't. I thought emergencies were what you developed players at that level for. The comments on Shea. I think it's reasonable to say he has offered less than Paddy does thus far. It's not to write him off. He's an International player for a reason but a place on the bench would be the limit of where he would be based on what he has shown so far. I don't think Frimpong was mentioned in this thread. I think if his heads in the right place and I presume it will be given the imminent World Cup he's a good player and better than any other option we have in his position.
Personally, against Millwall I'd have: Mellis behind the front two of O'Grady (if fit) and Proschwitz. Jennings on the left and McCourt on the right. Frimpong (if he can be arsed) or Dawson in front of the back four.
Should never have played the lad, obviously not fit and may have put him out for longer now. Cwyska who scores and takes players on and has a hard shot not good enough by the looks, why he is not on instead of Pussy Shea I will never understand
