All football matches, except one game, should be at 15:00 on a Saturday. There should be one live game on a Sunday.

Tradition. That's all. Though 5pm would make it easier so you can do other things for home match days. Getting back from most away games would be late though.

I'd change it round so close season was January February March, season starts Easter bank holiday weekend with a Good Friday & Easter Monday double header and runs all through the summer leading up to the last day of the season on Boxing Day

    lol

If anything I'd have it earlier, definitely be better for away games. Miss a few away games a season cos I'll not be back in time for family do's, birthday nights out & things like that.

    Definitely not later

Normally my threads are daft to be fair, but for me with family and work commitments a later Saturday match would be better, so I can do the family thing in day and have my time later on, buts that me

I like it how it is. 3pm Saturday. I understand that's not perfect for everyone, but nothing ever would be.

For home games, 3pm allows you to do other stuff in the morning and early afternoon with family. It doesn't clash with any meal times that you may want to spend with family and friends. It means you're home in time for tea or in plenty of time to get ready to go out. And, unless you travel long distances, a 3pm kick off means you can be back from away games in time to go out.

A 5pm home game means tea time is knackered, or if you want to go out, you're rushing about like a blue arsed fly trying to get ready once the match is done. You do get an extra couple of hours in the daytime to spend with family, but if you're up and at 'em at 9 o'clock, it's a blessing that you can sneak off at 2 for the game. You've done your duty, taking the wife to the shops or the kids to the park, or everyone out for lunch, so you're in the good books, but you still get to go to the football, are still home in time to have Pizza with the kids and still have plenty of time to go out at night. If you don't leave for the football until 4, everyone is bored, tired an irritable by that time anyway, instead of being super dad, you're just another pain in the arse, and by the time you get home it's too late to enjoy owt. Kids have had their Pizza, wife is watching X-Factor and can't be arsed now it's so late, you need a shower, it's 8 0'clock already, Barnsley have lost, so you're pissed off and it all seems like way too much hassle.

Away games are even worse. You miss much of the afternoon travelling there and you're back too late to do owt even if you feel good after a win.

3pm. Plenty of time in the morning to do what you want, chance to be out only between dinner/tea so no need to buy Lindleys crap grub and every evening free. Although tea kick off was pretty good for the Chelsea game.

Not tradition. Prior to floodlights matches started earlier in the winter months.

We used kick off at 3.15 in the 60s, to allow a bit of extra time for miners finishing their shifts.

And the '70's When I first started going we were always a 3:15pm kick off and always one of the late results in on grandstand. I cant remember which season we changed to 3pm though

Personally I am happy with a 3pm Saturday afternoon kick off

I'd like the leagues to be staggered, so German games kick off at 2pm, English at 4pm then Spain at 6pm. (for example). We can then stream the best games from around the continent and watch Barnsley in the middle.

No travelling back from games on a Sunday evening is a nightmare so if either you live a long way from the ground or go to away games it makes the journeys so much worse. Saturday evening is actually great for travelling
