Worst organised gig i've been to in a long time. Hour and half long queues for a beer. Massive queues for the toilets. Sound system was poor and even failed completely during the arctics set. Having said that the Arctics were excellent as ususal.
Several thousand Mancs and Scousers in an enclosed space
With 2 hour queues for beer. Recipie for disaster. Thought I was going to get stabbed at one point.
Whoever decided to hold it in Manchester wants shooting.

Not seen a police presence like that at a gig for years Since Oasis at Finsbury park - which was also full of mancs and scousers, suprise suprise
Every big musical event Ive been to there has been a massive que at the Toilets/beers stands. So not a problem with that on saturday, Also the sound at big outdoor events is never great. The wind blowing in the wrong direction etc. Just think That gig couldve been in the god awful Sheffield Arena. Then we would have been complaining. I went on saturday and had a rate time. Top bands (amy winehouse apart), top songs, great atmosphere (where I was), and the Arctic Monkeys too. All for under £30. bargain. GET TO MORE GIGS
Get Bent Great atmosphere? All outdoor gigs have poor sound? Sheffield Arena was never an option but I'm sure Don Valley could have been. Full of cocks struggling to stand up, pissing against every fence in the place. 40,000 people doing there upmost to ruin a gig, while 200,000 people at Glastonbury did anything but for 5 days! Best thing about the gig on Saturday was the opening 3 tracks!
RE: also if amy winehouse was anything like when i saw her last week she will have been superb nt Thought she was ok, having said that the sound wasn't great where i was sat.
"sound at big outdoor events is never great" Since when? You must have been to some poor gigs if you thought it was good on saturday. I've been to 2 festivals in the last month or so and neither of them had problems with queues etc and the sound has been spot on.
erm, i go to loads of gigs and thats got nothing to do with it anyway. the sound system was poor, they'd scrimped on the speakers I think - went to see REM at the same venue and the setup was a lot better. The idea of people working at gigs as sound technicians is to deal with wind etc , however they were fighting a losing battle. The queueing for the bars was pathetic. They must have known how many people were coming and they could have put on more staff, increased the amount of bars, controlled the crowd or even had those people going round with drinks in backpacks to ease the pressure on the bar.
RE: erm, i go to loads of gigs I didn't think the sound was actually too bad, but the bar situation was a fecking disgrace. Simply railing off the ends of the bars would have minimised the problems, as people we're simply pushing in straight at the front. Quite a lot of women who we're around me had to be lifted over the bar as they we're crying and couldn't move or breathe even. Must say that once the police/security started to control it and only let a certain number of people at a time to the bar it was much better. Well pissed off that I totally missed The Coral by queuing though, but I think Supergrass made up for that.
RE: erm, i go to loads of gigs I'm sure it wasn't bad every where. I guess it depended where you were in location to the couple of speaker stacks they had.
Yesterday was better I think went to the gig yesterday - sounds as though it was a little better didn't have to queue for bar - getting away from the bar was a nightmare though toilet queues as I expected but probably, as Harrow said, due to the fact that mayne less people want to get bladdered on a Sunday night! But as for sound - absolutely crap, poor partly the conditions but doesn't excuse all of it, certainly not the complete breakdown at one point - and again, I go to outdoor gigs and not heard it quite as bad as that before But still a cracking gig Claire
RE: erm, i go to loads of gigs I was about half way back and reasonably close to the speakers, which is probably why I though the sound was OK. I thought it was much better than last time I saw them at Rotherham Magna anyway
The speakers were facing down so anyone sat in the stands would have struggled as the sound just didn't carry
Definitely They were angled down, so it sounded a bit better in the standing areas than the seating areas - even the volume was massively different.
RE: Get Bent thanks. I will. Did I say all outdoor gigs have poor sound. NO. I said most. I was sat near the Pavilion on saturday and the sound wasn't a problem. Could hear every word uttered by Mr Turner. And it was 50,00 on saturday mate.
